acute Posted June 12, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2021 I need to record a l•o•n•g video (in Full HD) on my Android phone's Camera app, but I don't know the answers to these questions: If I run out of storage space on the SD card, is the video saved? If the battery dies, is the video saved?
SHaYap Posted June 13, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2021 Define " long " & " Full HD " Hours, minutes...etc 360p, 720p, 1080p...etc As for "out of storage" and "low batt" Depending on the app, most likely possibly and definitely not... ~ 1

The quality, format, and duration are irrelevant. I'm asking about what happens at a forced ending.

It's not, depending on the system hardware capabilities, those elements are critical to the chances of what can be saved or not, if not outright failure regardless of storage capacity. ~
jmccr8 Posted June 13, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2021 (edited) I would try a mini usb to usb splitter and use one input for for power pack/charging and the other for external hard drive Edited June 13, 2021 by closed for business

'Walt' E. Kurtz Posted June 13, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 13, 2021 (edited) @acute sorry for being such a scatter brain today.... Are you asking what will happen if you force close your phones apps ?. force closing does not improve preformance or battery life cause apps in the multitasking page are ("frozen") and not running. acute Posted June 13, 2021 Author #8 Share Posted June 13, 2021 (edited) @'Walt' E. Kurtz When the phone is recording video, and either the battery dies or the SD card becomes full, is the video saved? Edited June 13, 2021 by acute

'Walt' E. Kurtz Posted June 13, 2021 #11 Share Posted June 13, 2021 (edited) @acute if the battery drains out while recording the camera will automatically stop recording and then turn off the battery with the recorded video being saved. it's the same with memory cards. the video will get saved from where you ran out of power or from where you ran out of memory. bad joke the good thing is that your memory will come back Edited June 13, 2021 by 'Walt' E. The heavy hiRes formats might not get "saved" in time, especially if the hardware is below the borderline 'recommended' specs, you'll just be spending more time trying to recover corrupted files, which if, and that's the IF of the issue here, recovered, is not worth the effort anyways... Edit: Plus we're not even talking about audio fidelity here... ~ Edited June 13, 2021 by third_eye Addendum

acute Posted June 13, 2021 Author #16 Share Posted June 13, 2021 @Piney Did you know about the huge Chainsaw Convention in Poughkeepsie this afternoon? Lots of chainsaw-themed attractions, and incredible discounts in the chainsaw sales.
