Of course you and many others will say that following both paths ìs possible.

But most often they rule eachother out.

If someone tries to use both they will find out that 99.99999% of their beliefs are just psychology. That have no basis in reality. Thoughts don't materialize without actions, as in doing things. I did this. It lead me from being a believer in magick to understanding how thoughts influence perception. It will destroy belief, but, I think it is worth it. It is kind of interesting knowing you can program your subjective reality. But all that esoteric stuff is nonsense, just one of many models of reality that people operate through. 

The short answer: It is all a matter of perception.
