Still Waters Posted June 19, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2021 Hardliner Ebrahim Raisi has won Iran's presidential election, following a race that was tightly controlled. He thanked Iranians for their support, in a poll that was widely seen as being designed to favour him. Mr Raisi is Iran's top judge and holds ultra-conservative views. He is under US sanctions and has been linked to past executions of political prisoners. Iran's president is the second-highest ranking official in the country, after the supreme leader. Mr Raisi will have significant influence over domestic policy and foreign affairs. But in Iran's political system it is the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the top religious cleric, who has the final say on all state matters. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-57537027 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/19/iran-presidential-election-result-raisi-hemmati

Sounds like a step backwards in the progress of humanity but ultimately 'right' will win but this will just mean more temporary pain along the way. Next Israel might be pushed to a hard-liner to deal with increased threats.
Abramelin Posted June 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2021 The Iranians are not masochists. This was no honest election. This was the new and advanced version of the election of Adolf Hitler.
