Popular Post Still Waters Posted June 25, 2021 Popular Post #1 Share Posted June 25, 2021 A near-perfectly preserved ancient human fossil known as the Harbin cranium sits in the Geoscience Museum in Hebei GEO University. The largest of known Homo skulls, scientists now say this skull represents a newly discovered human species named Homo longi or "Dragon Man." Their findings, appearing in three papers publishing June 25 in the journal The Innovation, suggest that the Homo longi lineage may be our closest relatives—and has the potential to reshape our understanding of human evolution. "The Harbin fossil is one of the most complete human cranial fossils in the world," says author Qiang Ji, a professor of paleontology of Hebei GEO University. "This fossil preserved many morphological details that are critical for understanding the evolution of the Homo genus and the origin of Homo sapiens." https://phys.org/news/2021-06-dragon-fossil-neanderthals-closest-relative.html https://www.cell.com/the-innovation/fulltext/S2666-6758(21)00056-4 https://www.cell.com/the-innovation/fulltext/S2666-6758(21)00057-6 https://www.cell.com/the-innovation/fulltext/S2666-6758(21)00055-2 4
+DanL Posted June 28, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2021 It didn't matter how big his brain was. He and his kind were just another victim of homosapians. There are a lot of different cats, bears, and most any other types of animals. Humanity, even today, has no tolerance for different people much less another species of hominid. They went the way of so many other peoples. We wiped out entire tribes of native Americans. We probably wiped them out.
Freez1 Posted June 28, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2021 We send probes to other planets and yet we have only scratched the surface of the planet we call home. This planet has had multiple attempts at humanoids and I seriously doubt it’s done. Our bones will be dug up one day to be studied by the next ones. What will be left of us then in the same amount of time?

+DieChecker Posted June 30, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 30, 2021 I'd vote NOT a closer relative. Think about it. H. Sapiens came out of Africa, and this has only been found in China. Sounds like a Neanderthal evolution away from us actually. I guess maybe there might be dragon man fossils eventually found between South Africa and China, but right now it appears the two species evolved. Site appears to be north of Korean peninsula. Meaning, South Africa is 8000 miles away by land. Could also be a follow on of a different species then Neanderthal, since they've never been found that far east.
