"I think, therefore I am"

Attention, everyone human!

Try this mental experiment, which comes first: thinking or existing:

I think then I exist.

Or

I exist then I think.

My remark: Sad, there are humans who don't think - they shouldn't have existed, for the un-examined life is not worth living.

Not too late to start conducting yourself as a thinking person, instead of a feeling person only, then your life is worth living.

That’s seems a bit harsh ,to me.      I don’t know at what age people begin ‘thinking’ instead of simply experiencing.   I seem to ,vaguely, remember my pre-thinking existence!   :P. . I was very very young at the time.    I’m thankful I existed long enough to develop ‘thinking,,as we understand the term.     Anyway, to respond to your mental experiment .. first… I exist, then, I think I exist. ;)

A.I. computers can think and they exist. Scary to think what they may do to us when they think enough to have an existential crisis as people do.

I like the idea of choosing my life's course, not just reacting to it.

That sounds the opposite of weak to me.   Just reacting is what I consider weak.

Choosing and staying a course, in life, is good and very admirable…but sometimes life has a way of changing your course?  ..sometimes reacting to the changes takes some strength ?

Well, I think being flexible is different than reacting to everything.   You have to be flexible because there are things that will knock you off course.

Not what my comment is about. Say that there are certain aspect of your character you wish to cultivate (make a habit of). Would you stay the course of deviate whenever the littlest bump in the road happens?

Goals are a different thing.

Not really getting to what your point is at all.

Anyway, my point is that it is never too late to start conducting yourself as a thinking person, instead of a feeling person only, then your life is worth living.

From my stock knowledge of the psychology of human personality, a child reaches the age of reason at the age of seven or more, that is when he no longer depends on his papa and mama for all knowledge and behavior in life.

At that age he thinks for himself, and thinks according to reason, not accoring to feeling, that is why it is called the age of reason.

Hi Oslove

Well to a point you are other than this thread is not based on god constructs and that is where you will go as you express the same cyclic(circular) argument in every thread you engage in which is why I have suggested you starting a thread. If it gets lonely in that thread and no responses then that would be a pretty good indication as to whether or not you inspire people to discuss with you.

No, the topic is "I think, therefore I am",  has nothing to do with anything you have posted yet.   Like @jmccr8 said, start your own thread.

I think. Therefore I am. What am I that thinks? Am I the "i" ? Who am I really and why does what I think define this "I am-ness"?

Hi lightly

When I was sleeping I had no thoughts so I didn’t exist until I had a thought first thing this morning like coffee.

Oddly enough we also have the premise that if I did not dream in my sleep I had died and at 6am was reborn as the same old guy that died last night in the same body. So I had 4 cups of coffee just to make sure I was all systems go.

Morning Oslove, tis Saturday 10am here in the NZ .

A life worth living for sounds sublime .. How does one go about conducting ones self in a thinking manner to gain this life of worth .

What are the differences in a Thinking person and a Feeling person?

After 7 yrs old is the kid on its own . No longer needing Mama or Papa certainly not Granpa or Granma coz pfft , He's reached reason .. what happens after 7yrs old ?
