Havana Syndrome reported among US diplomats in Vienna

Eldorado

Recommended Posts

A US State Department spokesperson said Saturday: "In coordination with our partners across the US Government, we are vigorously investigating reports of possible unexplained health incidents among the US Embassy Vienna community or wherever they are reported."

Victims of Havana Syndrome have reported a varying set of symptoms and physical sensations, including sudden vertigo, nausea, headaches and head pressure, sometimes accompanied by a "piercing directional noise."

Some reported being able to "step in" and "step out" of these sensations by physically moving their bodies elsewhere. Some have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries and continue to suffer from debilitating headaches and other health issues years later.

Interesting that this is only happening to Americans. Are Americans behind it?

What do you mean by this? Some sort of false flag attacks? Or that there is some kind of "war" going on between American factions at these embassies?

Well the spooks may just be targeting Americans to test new hardware. Doubtful, but it's not beyond them to do just that.

CIA Director William Burns says he has redoubled the agency's efforts to uncover the cause of Havana Syndrome — the mysterious set of ailments that has afflicted more than 200 U.S. officials and family members around the world.

That includes the assignment of a senior officer who once led the hunt for Osama bin Laden to lead the investigation and tripling the size of a medical team involved in the probe, Burns told NPR on Thursday in his first sit-down interview since being confirmed as the agency's chief in March.

U.S. Embassy personnel in Bogota, Colombia, have reported symptoms aligned with the mysterious “Havana syndrome” that continues to plague U.S. spies and diplomats around the globe.

U.S. officials said Tuesday that two cases were initially reported by embassy personnel in the capital city, but said several others may have been affected. Embassy staff was alerted to the “anomalous health incidents” involving at least five families connected to the embassy in a mid-September email, according to The Wall Street Journal, who first reported the latest known cases in a baffling string of attacks that have mystified U.S. officials.

This is the third thread I've seen of this. First it is, then it isn't, then it is. On the other thread a member brought up the 'Moscow Signal' then I found some articles pertaining to it. It definitely sounds almost identical to the Moscow Signal that was discovered on the US embassy in Russia during the Cold War from the 1950's-70's.

Long before Havana Syndrome, the U.S. reported microwaves beamed at an embassy

In 1996, Michael Beck and a colleague at the National Security Agency were sent to a "hostile country" on a brief assignment.

After being detained at the airport for about an hour, they were allowed to go, but they knew they were being closely watched.

A few days into the assignment, Beck woke up at his hotel feeling terrible.

United States diplomats and intelligence officers  suffering from the mysterious Havana Syndrome will receive six-figure payouts from the federal government.

The payouts for the stricken officials, ordered by the Biden Administration, will range between $100,000 and $200,000 to each recipient, according to a Washington Post report that outlined the compensation plan.

That's some expensive mass hysteria, apparently.

When you consider the total pay out it is far cheaper than dealing with blood sucking lawyers

CIA doctor hit by Havana syndrome says he was in ‘disbelief’ as he suffered what he was investigating

I read through this article but most of the article is a collection of already told and discarded tales.

For example, "Some victims have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries". And those diagnoses were done without CAT or MRI scans of the head. When done, no traumatic brain injuries were seen. This differs from the person the article is about. "Andrews has been examined by a battery of physicians, who have found damage to his vestibular structures — the parts of the body that govern balance and orientation." You can't determine there is vestibular damage without a scan of the head.

Directed microwave energy. Messes with persons head.

The Soviets did that to the U.S. embassy in Moscow years ago, except it was for different reasons.

The U.S. embassy was in part built by Russian contractors, which implanted special metal cones throughout the walls of the building during an intelligence operation.

Microwaves were directed and conversations could be overheard.

Once found-out, the embassy was bulldozed and another one built by strictly U.S. contractors.

Embassy employees reported headaches and hearing phantom voices.

It should be important to note that microwaves do not pass through buildings easily. The Moscow incident had the devices inside the building.  Havana and other places have events inside of buildings.

The problem with microwaves in a communication capacity is their inability to penetrate buildings, trees, hills and other objects, which means they need a clear line of sight to be effective. Signals are transmitted directly from a source to a receiver site.

They can penetrate buildings but the signal is attenuated and scattered by passing through the building. That makes communication not possible. It also means that a directed microwave beam would also be scattered by the metal parts of the building. There would be a requirement to know where the person is in the building as well. How would that be accomplished?

Microwave radiation can have different properties, depending on its wavelength. The longer waves (20″ down to 5″) travel further and penetrate deeper into buildings and living tissue. The shorter waves (0.5″ down to 0.1″) are called millimeter waves (mm-waves) because they measure from 10 mm (at 30,000 MHz), down to 1 mm (at 300,000 MHz). The mm-waves are not as efficient because they don’t travel as far, tend to reflect off of buildings, and deposit mainly into the eyes and skins of living organisms.

If this is accurate, it seems to me that it would be difficult to use a directed microwave beam outside of a building to do what was claimed. It should also have been revealed as tissue damage at the surface of the body.

There wasnt too much penetration. The special cones vibrate from sounds, and the microwaves bounce back.

It's all in the official report.

Exactly my point in stating that the Moscow incident does not apply to the Havana syndrome cases.
