Still Waters Posted July 27, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2021 Sri Lankan authorities say the world's largest star sapphire cluster has been found in a backyard - by accident. A gem trader said the stone was found by workmen digging a well in his home in the gem-rich Ratnapura area. Experts say the stone, which is pale blue in colour, has an estimated value of up to $100 million in the international market. The cluster weighs around 510 kilograms or 2.5 million carats and has been named the "Serendipity Sapphire". https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-57981046 3

moonman Posted July 27, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2021 (edited) Just looks like a regular rock to me. Who knows how many rocks I've been ignoring that are actually valuable... Though it's more than a little suspicious that a gem dealer just happened to find it in his own backyard. Edited July 27, 2021 by moonman
