Vorg Posted July 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2021 Handwritten notes from former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, released Friday by the House Oversight Committee, appear to show that former President Trump tried to pressure the Department of Justice to declare there was significant fraud tainting the 2020 presidential election. The documents were obtained by the committee as part of its investigation into efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The notes are from a December 27, 2020, phone call between Trump and then-Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen. Newly released notes show Trump pressured DOJ to declare election was 'corrupt' (msn.com) 6
Popular Post Vorg Posted July 30, 2021 Author Popular Post #2 Share Posted July 30, 2021 (edited) Hardly surprising, considering Bill Barr had just left the position after sparring with Trump over trying to overturn the election. https://medium.com/politically-speaking/why-did-trump-allow-bill-barr-to-resign-rather-than-fire-him-a3deb71deaf7 Barr knew which way the wind was blowing after the election. He knew that Trump had lost and any efforts that Trump made to overturn Biden’s victory would be futile, so Barr started to lay the groundwork for his own graceful exit. Trump expected Barr to spearhead his efforts to overturn the election. Instead Barr issued a bland statement that to date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.” Note the careful wording. He did not deny that there was any fraud, just that there was not enough fraud to change the outcome of the election. This is one of those legal phrases that can be true and not true at the same time. While it is true that there were no fraudulent votes found, that doesn’t mean that none exist, just that they haven’t been found. Why do people fail to see the corruption of this man? He fought with Barr over trying to overturn the election, these are facts. So why would anyone believe these notes, obtained from the justice department, are false? They are no more false than books saying Trump wanted General Miley to shoot the protesters last summer, and Trump denying he said these things. Yet we haven't seen General Miley refute a word that has been written in these books. Edited July 30, 2021 by South Alabam 9
Tatetopa Posted July 30, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2021 The notes themselves won't be enough, but they are plenty of reason to subpoena phone records and individuals to testify under oath. I think one reason Trump is believed is that normally nobody lies so brazenly. We expect the president to be a little more circumspect and not so bumbling or blatant. Imagine what happens if your sister tells you that your favorite Uncle Johnny who helped buy your college books tried to cop a feel at a Thanksgiving dinner. You call her a liar and don't believe Uncle Johnny could do anything like that. Some people have too much invested not to believe or at least pretend to believe Uncle Donnie. 5

I think the reason Donnie believes the election to be corrupt is because he himself was planning on rigging the election and when he lost he grasped upon the only explanation that made sense to him and that his ego could accomodate - the other guy DID cheat using his exact plan. +OverSword Posted July 30, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 30, 2021 I'm sure this will go somewhere. I mean how many times can you try and fail before you finally get lucky?
Tatetopa Posted July 31, 2021 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2021 This seems pretty serious. Rosen may get a pass for keeping this to himself until now, but really there might have been nothing he could do until Trump left office. From the notes, it seems that Trump did not care if the election was corrupt, he was going to sell the steal anyway. . He and his Republican Congressional friends would handle it. Now here is a funny thing, Trump will rat out anybody to save his own hide, so if he gets cornered, he will blame all of his Republican Congressional friends for convincing him to do this. Some have tried to say this was not a coup because the insurrectionists were clowns. But since Trump knew the election was not fraudulent and he was planning to keep power anyway by lying to supporters, it qualifies as a coup I think.. It also explains why so many incompetents participated, Trump was running it. 2
