The Poetry of Motion

Deja Vu

The sands of time sift through my soul like a river,

The arrows of heartache leap to my bow from their quiver.

With a deep breath, air fills my lungs with anticipation

For the touch of my hand on the curve of your hip--sensation.

Deja Vu,

We've been here before

Loving you, as I've never before

It's all still the same yet everything's changed

Deja Vu.

You left me, in the hour of my heart's tribulation,

Only to come back again and fill my heart with elation.

A triumph o'er tears and a litany of fears.

Deja Vu.

We've been here before

Loving you, now you're asking for more

A tyranny of years and the sum of my fears

Deja Vu.

The sunset and a night of warm silk, illumination

To drink my fill at the fountain of love's contemplation

I cling so tight yet love slips away

As the ending begins the very same way

Deja Vu.

We've been here before

Deja Vu,

Now you're leaving once more

While the voices of time

Chant the same weary lines

Deja Vu.

Long Night of Masks

Out through the door, I breath once again

Embrace the hot breath of July.

Look up at sky so brilliantly blue

White clouds float  serenely by

Astonishingly green, framed by trees

I watch the mockingbird fly.

So this is world we've been missing,

When life banished us from the sun.

So this is why life is worth living,

Once again freedom's dream we have won.

I won't look back or remember

The dark days are over and done.

Never again so lonesome and somber,

I'll hush my heart if ever it asks

Of our lonely lost year of exile,

Our wretched long night of masks.

Sojourner

I'll pick up my cross and I'll move along and take a room without a  reservation.

Somewhere out Route 66, a little journey back in time.

Empty, forsaken, past boarded up pitstops aimless as a tumbleweed rolls.

Sunset streaked skies and a haven for memories, words falling without any rhyme.

Faces that haunt me, eyes wreathed with sadness, one step away from the heartache of madness,

The soul pirouettes through the colors of darkness in it's various shades and sublimations.

Lithe limbs and sweet voices in echoes of gladness, the past stretches out to the darkened horizon.

I pass faded billboards that go on forever in gaudy review and a life's brief summations,

On a lost road to nowhere and nevermore.

A ship of the desert without any rudder, the wind sets the course and billows it's sails,

On a salt-laden sea, a fluke and chimera, like the dew of the morning the sun fades away.

The bright light of dawning and sleepless eyes burning, one more forlorn pilgrim

With restless heart yearning across waters of dreaming, unknowing, unseeking,

A collection of scars of a heart's recollections, of pains and of sorrows of love's lost affections.

I dip my fingers in the memory-roiled waters and taste the bitterness of brine.

The prow touches land and I step out on a shore, lined with dead fishes and lovers last wishes

My heart feels the flutter of words never uttered and half buried in sand.

So, I'll journey on taking shelter in the shadow of a cross, my constant companion, wrought with my own living hands.

Life's journey's are endless and death's but a doorway, to step through, a lone wanderer, to wonder again.
