Recording his reaction to the symptoms, he says Covid is 'no worse than a cold'

A Cambridge University graduate, Leslie had no underlying health conditions

He previously refused a vaccine because he believed he 'did not need' one

Wife, Amanda, admitted he made 'terrible mistake' and paid the 'ultimate price'

A Cambridge University graduate recorded himself downplaying his Covid symptoms and telling viewers the disease was not to be feared days before the virus claimed his life.

Solicitor Leslie Lawrenson, 58, died at his home in Bournemouth, Dorset, just nine days after releasing footage to Facebook explaining why Covid-19 was 'nothing to be afraid of'.

The same thing has happened here in the U.S, for comparison.

Texas Republican leader dies of COVID-19 five days after anti-vaccination post (msn.com)

A Texas Republican leader who was hospitalized with COVID-19 died Wednesday, just days after he shared a post on social media questioning the effectiveness of the coronavirus vaccine.
The Galveston County Republican Party said in a Facebook post Wednesday morning that Scott Apley, a member of the State Republican Executive Committee and Dickinson City Council, had died.
While the party did not specify the cause of death, a GoFundMe page that had been set up for Apley and his family said he was admitted to a hospital Sunday with "pneumonia-like symptoms and tested positive for COVID."

I'm still not clear why people who haven't had the vaccine are so set against it. It seems like banning a book you haven't read because you have heard bad things about it.

I think here in the U.S it was viewed as political, and a hoax by some, so they are dead set against it, and other reasons that might kill them, like the two guys in the above links.

The Left Said It Wouldn’t Trust The Trump Vaccine. Now They’re Shaming The Unvaccinated

Public figures on the left spent months saying that they wouldn’t trust a vaccine produced under former President Donald Trump’s administration, but are now shaming people who say they won’t take the vaccine.

MSNBC host Joy Reid said multiple times that she would not trust a vaccine made by Trump or his “politicized” Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In one tweet she mocked “Operation Warp Speed,” the effort that the Trump administration made in order to get a vaccine made as fast as possible.

Then the left are idiots because those weren't my words. There was no Obamacare either, but the buck stops with the administration.

And still not a word about the left politicizing the vaccine and maybe contributing to some people's hesitancy. "crickets"

Like I said earlier, when someone else was harping about "trumpists" not getting the vaccine and hoping they kill themselves off. There must be a lot more Black and Hispanic trumpists than people thought. I already provided a link for the bigot.

I rarely bring up left or right, but some stuff gets monotonous from the same people all of the time and it's wearing me down.

You seem like an intelligent guy, Ted.  Does it REALLY surprise you that very large numbers of people, NOT all Trump supporters by any means, are taking a wait and see attitude with this experimental jab?  By the way, calling it that is accurate to the last detail.  Have you by any chance seen the video where the pioneer of mRNA vaccines is advising extreme caution for this particular version?  His name is Robert Malone and lest you imagine he's some hardcore Trump-type nutter, the video is done in the DARK HORSE PODCAST with an uber-Liberal from Oregon named Bret Weinstein.  Oversword posts his stuff here from time to time.  Because I trust OS's judgment, I had a listen and this guy is impressive as hell.  He has a PhD in biology and is extremely well-versed in the issues surrounding this novel coronavirus.

There is a trend toward hesitancy in the Black and Hispanic communities, as well.  A far higher percentage than could be representative of Trump supporters.  IMO, those who are angry over the hesitancy of millions to take the word of media or the CDC or WHO, are just reaping the whirlwind that they sowed when they spent 4+ years regularly mischaracterizing and even straight-up lying about Trump.  The fact that so many, even today, refuse to acknowledge those misdeeds and are continuing to support known lies deserve the stress they're experiencing over Covid19 and its multiple iterations.

The political aspect is one of the reason I was turned off towards the vax. The hard push and social shaming made me nope the whole mess.

If it was just presented and didn't feel forced I probably would've gotten it by now.

I got it, but I can understand why not everyone would want to. That's your prerogative.

People can do what they wish. I won't shame them for it. Hell, I've even encouraged it if they fit a need bracket. I just don't care personally.

This whole situation has shown me on here how much a turd some can be.

And when it is not recommended for certain health issues, it is really hard.  The panic being made by the media about it is very stressful added to people looking down on you for not getting it.  I am already stressed when the website says don't get it if...and I fit in for multiple reasons.  And then I am judged for listening to the medical recommendations.  People are getting crazy saying we shouldn't be allowed out in public...I work retail, so they are saying I can't work to support myself, then I would be homeless.  Not everyone CAN/SHOULD get it.  People need to really stop and look outside their own reality and realize not everyone is an anti-vaxxer for not getting it.

It must be really stressful, glorybebe. It shouldn't be anyone else's business whether you have or haven't gotten the vaccine. I have been shocked at how nasty people on here have gotten about it. In my area people are nice mask or not. Only our closest friends have talked about whether they have or haven't gotten it. No matter what the answer is we go on with what we were doing and handle it whatever way we feel is best for us as individuals, as everyone should.

I hope you and yours are all doing well and continue to do so.

Thank you.  We are still wearing masks for work.   And with the smoke from forest fires here so bad, half the town is wearing them while outside, too.   It really is hard and being judged unfairly is harder to understand.   And now from being called and texted from the province repeatedly to get the vaccine, it does make me have a little question in my mind about there being an agenda

But this is all factually incorrect!

Robert Malone is not creditable: Double Check: Who Is Dr. Robert Malone? (logically.ai)

It was a doctor (Andrew Wakefield) who got an article printed in the Lancet and caused so many problems with MMR  (he was struck off, there is nothing).

The hesitancy amongst Black and Hispanic communities has nothing to do with Malone's view, or at least not his per se.

Trump was (from what I can tell, I didn't know him personally) a dreadful man and a worse president, no one needed to mischaracterise or lie about him.

 I'd lie, tell them I got it and hang up on them. If they are keeping records with assigned card numbers, tell them to talk to the last three people you gave the information to, but not to call you again. Say it like you mean it. You'd be amazed at how well that works. :tu:

Stay safely away from those fire zones, dear.

I agree that this is true more so today than at any time in my life but like any other generalization, it can lead otherwise thoughtful people astray.  My Left/Right opinions here caused me to be a persona non-grata of more than a few members.  That's cool, everyone has their beliefs and the right to express them, civilly.  I struggle with that last bit ;)  and that's all I have to say about THAT :w00t:

My point is that when we see medical issues that can literally be life or death being treated like "Left/Right" team sports, it has become seriously dangerous and destructive.  I've seen a few members here and a LOT more, elsewhere, who almost seem to be relishing the idea that those who are hesitant and sometimes openly untrusting of this mRNA jab, have a better chance of death or serious long-term sequelae for not accepting the vax.

The data simply doesn't support that expectation for the Delta variant.  It is manifesting the traits that downstream viral variants almost always do.  It's doing what is required to keep it "alive".  It's more transmissible and less deadly.  Somehow, media tends to shout about the high transmissibility but say little or nothing of the fact that Delta's rate of mortality is roughly equivalent to seasonal influenza.  A tiny bit higher, but certainly not as deadly as the original.  In fact, I've read a few pieces on Delta that leave the impression that it's as deadly and FAR more contagious and that it will be worthy of a new "lockdown" to keep mass deaths from occurring.  THAT is a level of misinformation that is causing average people who are paying attention, to become angry and even more resistant.

Europeans seem to be becoming more resistant to the governmental overreach as are Americans.  People are simply OVER the panic of fear porn and economic disruption.  The suicide rate for Americans, especially young people, is far higher than before this pandemic began and far more youth are dying from drug overdose secondary to new-onset depression than have ever died as a result of infection with Covid.  It has become painfully obvious that world governments are using this virus as a catalyst for pushing serious, unwanted, and unwarranted life changes on people.  In the U.S. it seems the DC crowd are going to work through corporate entities to compel vaccine compliance rather than trying to use governmental power to do it.  That's because they KNOW our Constitution will not allow it.

I think that EVERY death from this virus and its variants is a tragedy for the families of the dead but so are the deaths of every suicidally depressed person who has lost job or home or hope for a better future because their government is pushing a narrative that cannot be defended with facts.
