jeceris Posted August 9, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2021 "It is generally accepted that trigonometry was developed by the ancient Greeks studying the night sky in the second century BCE," Mansfield says. "But the Babylonians developed their own alternative 'proto-trigonometry' to solve problems related to measuring the ground, not the sky." https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/technology/3700-year-old-babylonian-clay-tablet-upends-history-of-mathematics/ar-AAMWWev?ocid=hplocalnews&li=AAggNb9

Harte Posted August 9, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2021 It's a long list of Pythagorean Triples. Must have either invented a way to find said triples, or found them by trial and error - I don't know which it was because I'd need to investigate this and it sickens me to read articles claiming this is trigonometry. It's not. Harte 1 1
