Neither does a murder, but the victim always winds up dead. Whenever great powers create a power vacuum, people die. They're still dying in Libya, from the one that was created there.

I'm not anti American, but yes, that was yet another 'great' American foreign policy **** up after another.

Where do you want to start off in history? Liberia? Or do we want to just cherry pick administrations?

Or, would you prefer to get back on topic?

So do we. We have a lot more real time experience using them, too. I foresee a lot of 73 Easting scenarios playing out.

Well I suspect few here even know what you talking about, all I can say is hopefully your wrong we certainly don't need a situation even remotely similar to that happening again.

Actually, that was instigated by the French--who then begged our help. Back on topic, what aspect of this current debacle of the Biden Administration would you like to talk about?

I think the collapse of the Government forces in Afghanistan has been so quick because they are mostly pro-Taliban. When asked they say we love America, we love freedom and democracy, but as soon as we are gone they want their Islamic Conservative state back.

Unfortunately we have trained them and built them a war machine a moderate member of NATO like Spain or Italy would be proud off.

Nail on the head.

It's quiz time.

What's missing from this flight that left Kabul yesterday?

With also slipped and forgotten that there was no evidence the Taliban were responsible for 9/11.

are there any now?

That was never what anyone said.

The Taliban sheltered Al Qaeda, who were responsible, and gave them a safe place to train and plan attacks. That's why the West invaded, not because the Taliban themselves carried out attacks.

This is true - or was it because they believed they were habouring bin laden?

Interesting that when they traced bin Laden to Pakistan they didn't need an invasion.

I suppose one day Western countries may learn that not all cultures are amenable to liberty, constitutionalism, rule of law etc or the Jewish, Greek, Roman, Christian and Enlightenment roots from which they sprung. But social engineers, from left or right, will never accept this

Good point.

The invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq was done so that Cheney's company Haliburton could make billions "cleaning up" the countries. Ours included.

On the bright side, at least Shamima Begum has got somewhere to go now and spend the rest of her days with like minded people.

It is not yet clear what rules the Taliban will put in place for women now. But here are some of the rules they strictly enforced the last time they were in power, according a 2001 report from the US State Department:

Women had to wear coverings from head to toe.

Women were not allowed to work, except in very limited circumstances.

Women were barred from attending schools.

Women's healthcare was restricted.

Women were not allowed to leave their homes unless they were accompanied by male relatives.

Women could only use special buses, and were only allowed to take taxis when with male relatives.

Women could not be with men who were not related to them on the street.

The windows of houses had to painted over to stop outsiders seeing women in their homes.

If they broke these rules, women were punished by methods including beatings, and death by stoning. Women were also subjected to rape, abduction, and forced marriage by the Taliban.

In Afghanistan if the woman is showing a bit of flesh she is fair game.

And after she has been raped its her that gets locked up for it.

Why can `nt the whole world and the Islamic countries go in and get rid of Taliban,

How?

The world's most powerful military, along with a lot of other leading military powers, have spent the last 20 years on that.

Look at the headlines today to see how it went.

What do you suggest doing differently?

We got rid of them where we went. They just run to different nations. Like from Iraq then to Afghanistan, than to Pakistan.

No way to eradicate them unless other nations in the middle east truly wanted to.

Even then, it's an impossible task. They can just down weapons until you leave then pick them up again.
