Cant they just let people get out?

Remains to be seen, this might have been ISIS -K not the Taliban,  has it been announced yet?

Taliban wants either reprisals against  citizens who helped the West or they are afraid of the brain drain and bad publicity.    This is probably a good excuse to shut things down.  I hope not.

The Talitubbies have said a few of their guards have been injured so perhaps it couldve been Daesh, though I wouldn't put it past the Talitubbies to have actually done it as an excuse to close the airport fown early.

  • The title was changed to Suicide bombing, 'complex attack' at Kabul airport

Seems like it's Isis K they're putting the blame on, at least that's as of right now.

Pentagon says it's unclear how many casualties.  LIkely suicide bomber, though there are reports of gunfire.  The Taliban say some of their own have been killed.

eta: US personnel among the wounded.  Photos coming in of many Afghani wounded.

etaa: Taliban sources claim 13 killed, among them children.  Pentagon confirms second explosion at hotel near airport.

Under Trump the withdrawal (supposedly) would have been different. The Taliban were still bound to roll in and retake Afghanistan, so It seems these people who have gotten out have a much better fate than had things went according to Trump's plan.

I doubt Trump would have cared much for bringing refugees here, as he has insinuated Biden is bringing terrorist over here and all over the world, and he is anti immigration from Muslim countries, and "S" hole countries in general, and Stephen Miller his immigration architect damn sure didn't want them here. So it seems their plan has fallen apart. Ex-CIA analyst and Afghan vet says Stephen Miller is 'complicit' in the deaths of Afghan interpreters and 'should be held accountable for war crimes' (yahoo.com)

"The United States of America never, ever, made a promise, written or unwritten, to the people of Afghanistan that if after 20 years, they were unable to secure their own country, that we would take them to ours. That is nonsense. That has never been US government policy" Miller told Fox News' Laura Ingraham.

Russia's Foreign Ministry said at least 13 people were killed in the explosions and another 15 have been wounded.

A British defence source said it is "highly likely" that Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K) was responsible for the suicide attacks outside Kabul airport.

The source said the first explosion by the Baron Hotel is thought to have been a suicide bomber. The second explosion at nearby Abbey Gate is thought to have been a car bomb, according to an initial assessment

Slightly to one side of the actual attack, I've been looking at where the correspondents are reporting from. BBC, Sky and CNN from Doha, yet the Al Jazeera correspondent is in Kabul, as are France 24. The ARD correspondent is in New Delhi, so just like BBC, Sky and CNN his reports cannot be verivied as he isn't there, but he is reporting that at another gate, presumably the main gate, American forces have had to fire CS gas to deter a crowd of up to 4,000 people pressing on them. The France 24 correspondent has said that she can can say a lot more than she has so far, and it being very bad, but won't until there is verification.

Starting to become a bit clearer, and I can see why the France 24 correspondent did not want to say anything  before verification. Not a sucide vest but a car bomb, or two, or, at this moment, three? At least 60 dead and 150 injured, including at least ten US marines dead and dozens injured.

I'm starting to think that when the huge hordes outside the airport get a sense that the last planes are shortly to go, and that could be within a few days, or less, they will storm the airport as the perimeter has to eventually weaken and contract as the military are themselves evacuated. Then there are apparently ten thousand Afghan civilians in the airport who are waiting for a flight. They might decide that they'll get on any plane on the tarmac. This is unknown territory, who knows what will happen, but I doubt it will get better.

Kabul hospital:  60 injured in explosions.

Man **** these people.

There is clearly something wrong with your ideology when you find yourself blowing up hospitals.

The suicide blasts were at the airport.  The hospital is reporting the dead and injured

Sooo, these reports of more explosions, seven or more, seem to be the Americans blowing up their own equipment that cannot be taken out. That's to be expected, but perhaps something to be done at the end, which is supposed to be next Tuesday. Then, who mans all the fancy defences when the soldiers who man them are getting on the last flights, a few Turks? the Taliban, yeah. Overland evac of the last troops?

The atmosphere in Kabul, Afghanistan turned deadly Thursday. ISIS-K, a terrorist group opposed to the Taliban, took credit for a bombing and gun attacks at Hamid Karzai International Airport that killed Americans and Afghan civilians. Another explosion near the Baron Hotel, close to the initial bombing at the Abbey Gate, resulted in a "number of U.S. & civilian casualties,"Pentagon press secretary John Kirby tweeted Thursday.

Eleven Marines, a Navy corpsman and another service member whose service branch was not immediately clear were killed in the attacks at the Kabul airport.

Marine Corps Gen. Kenneth McKenzie said a "a number of Afghan citizens" were also killed or injured. Ten victims of the attack were dead upon arriving at an Italian charity hospital.

Glad to know the Taliban aren't supporting terrorism

Glad to know that this debacle falls squarely into the hands of the President that replaced Donald J Trump.   What was his name???

What an excellent strategist.  So marvelous that this guy is the Commander in Chief of all of the Armed Forces.  Don't you wish you were in the military so you could stand and applaud his noble actions?

Then again...maybe we should not stand up ...maybe just take a knee...

What to know about the deadly terrorist attack at Kabul airport.

Honestly, why do we need to know anything.  The news is that there was a deadly terrorist attack at Kabul airport.  What else needs to be known...nothing.  Do we need to know who did it? No.  Do we  need to know why they did it?  No.

The War on Terror is over.  So...it's kind of passé.
