Doug1066 Posted August 31, 2021 #76 Share Posted August 31, 2021 Looks like city govt did a better job with this one. Maybe they learned something from Katrina? Doug
Raptor Witness Posted September 1, 2021 Author #77 Share Posted September 1, 2021 This is way worse than Katrina, minus the levees, according to a man who should know. Prior to Mt. Ida, Louisiana was #2 per capita in new coronavirus cases and hospitalizations, second only to Florida. A handful of ICU beds, and now a monster Cat 4 hurricane destroys the infrastructure. Bad Luck? 16 years to the day Katrina slammed them? They do, coincidentally, have the largest beach nourishment program and United States gearing up, something I specifically warned President Biden about months ago. But what do I know, I’m just the most underpaid, non-NSA cryptographer in the United States right now.

Raptor Witness Posted September 2, 2021 Author #81 Share Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) 3.5 Inches of rain is a lot of water, in an hour in Central Park. I wonder how that stat. stacks up, in the record books? Aside from the historic nature of the event itself, New York City is the financial capital of the world. So if Mother Earth is trying to make a point, in addition to the 16th perfect anniversary of hurricane Katrina in Southeastern, Louisiana, where better than New York City to take a parting shot at U.S.? quiXilver Posted September 2, 2021 #82 Share Posted September 2, 2021 My old neighborhood is underwater. Have three friends who are stuck where they're at for now, but all safe. Another left the city altogether, thankfully, and is upstate and outside it all. Crazy stuff.

Mother nature doesn't make decisions. It is bad in the New York/New Jersey area. I feel for the people there. Although they could use a good washing and cleaning, I don't think this is ideal. If we don't take care of Earth, things change and we may not be prepared for those changes. A fair argument, but you put forward no evidence. It’s just your opinion. Did you know that Hurricane Katrina was the first hurricane I forecast in 2005? Soon after, I joined forces with the Earth. Since then, I’ve used a particular formula repeatedly, which is attached to many disaster forecasts that I make. For example, if you Google in quotation marks the unique phrase: “ By four ways and in two parts” It’s also included in my signature artwork, below. Only I know the meaning of the formula, and the genesis of it. I will tell you that it’s linked to hurricane Katrina. 4 x 4 =16 years to the day You claim that the earth has no regard for men, but the earth and I are friends. What will you all make if there is (and I don't intend for it to be dismissive) only the usual damage from a Cat 4 hurricane? Not the apocalyptic nightmare that Katrina produced? Will it be because of the Corps of Engineers rebuilt the levees properly? Will the prevention of a humanitarian crisis at the football stadium be credited to FEMA for proper notifications to evacuate? Will the politicians involved be lauded for vigilance and management? Conversely, what will be the blame or cause if this is a repeat event? Global warming? Saharan Sands affecting hurricane formation and direction? Unique and increased solar activity? Political incompetence? Act of God? What say you? A Category 4 hurricane is a Category 4 hurricane, no matter when or where it occurs. The differences between storms are usually the result of what they do where. A four-inch per hour rainfall is no big deal ten miles offshore, but it is a huge problem onshore. And in general, the mayor actually read the disaster plan this time. Doug

spud the mackem Posted September 14, 2021 #94 Share Posted September 14, 2021 I think that you guys should start building sea surge barriers at beaches liable to be flooded ,and also brick houses instead of wooden ones in areas liable to be hit by hurricanes . I've seen devastation shown on this site when a hurricane or tornado hits a small town built of wood and loss of life and property is horrendous . Keep safe folks and get out of the way of these monsters .
