itsnotoutthere Posted September 10, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2021 With winter looming and fears of a new wave growing, central London is the least vaccinated place in England. All 11 of the areas with the lowest vaccine coverage are in the capital and border one another. As ministers in Whitehall plot how to navigate the country through a possible fourth wave, the city outside their windows is heading into the colder months as the least vaccinated place in the country. Heath officials have acknowledged uptake in London has slowed, with little change in the vaccination rates this week. Public Health England data shows Newham in East London is the local authority with the lowest proportion of double-jabbed people (49.5%). Along with Westminster (49.9%), it is one of just two local authority areas in England where a majority of people still haven’t had two doses. https://metro.co.uk/2021/09/09/london-englands-11-least-vaccinated-areas-are-all-in-the-capital-15234057/?ito=socialmetrouktwitter
Silver Posted September 10, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2021 (edited) Metro news informs? In May 2019, the paper was condemned by the National Union of Journalists[33] and the Public and Commercial Services Union[34] after an internal document leaked to The Guardian showed evidence that Amber Rudd, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, had authorised the use of at least a quarter of a million pounds of public money for a ten-week run of advertorials to be placed in Metro newspapers to "challenge the myths" around the government's controversial Universal Credit programme.[35] The Trussell Trust also ran a countercampaign called "Universal Credit Uncovered".[36] In June 2019, the Daily Mirror[37] reported that 80 UK charities had filed a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority over "misleading Universal Credit adverts in Metro". In July 2019, the Advertising Standards Authority announced it was launching an investigation into the DWP ads.[38] The move came after the Morning Star revealed that the Metro had not run the controversial ads in its 3 July 2019 print edition.[39] On 5 November 2019, the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that the campaign was misleading, branding the ads "exaggerated" and in some cases "unsubstantiated".[40] The Advertising Standards Authority upheld three complaint points whilst partially upholding a fourth.[41] Metro (British newspaper) - Wikipedia This is a very fair review: News for Children?! Full of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors; rehashed stories taken from other news outlets; a never ending procession of teenaged 'Journalists' who appear not to know left from right (or vice-versa!?). That's about It, I'm afraid! Just three themes seem to cover most of 'Metros' subject matter; (a.)Main news items of the day, regurgitated from other news outlets, (b.) Petty, banal, social-media based articles which they consider to be newsworthy, and (c.) Underhanded advertising features presented as normal news items. That's about It. Don't bother attempting to navigate around the site - unless you have a strange compulsion to tear your hair out In frustration! Leaving a comment on any page/story on Metro will have a particularly detrimental effect on your patience and sanity! After posting, you'll be lucky to find that particular comment section ever again -and If Metro send you an email with a direct link to your comment, you'll get the correct page, but the comments section will usually be missing, often never to return. They seem to switch on/off at random! It beggars belief that these problems haven't been resolved. In Brief terms? Amateurish, shoddy, ill-informed, childish and pretty pointless, really. Certainly worth a visit - like It's worth visiting a Circus to see the Clowns. But for news? Don't bother, friends! ; The Tories must laugh their socks off that they get so much support from these sources.
