China-linked disinformation campaign blames Covid on Maine lobsters

In mid-September, Marcel Schliebs, a disinformation researcher at the University of Oxford who had been tracking messaging that Chinese diplomats and state media spread on Twitter for 18 months, spotted the emergence of a surprising coronavirus origin theory.  

Zha Liyou, the Chinese consul general in Kolkata, India, tweeted an unfounded claim that Covid-19 could have been imported to China from the United States through a batch of Maine lobsters shipped to a seafood market in Wuhan in November 2019. It marks the latest in a series of theories that have been pushed by pro-China accounts since the start of the pandemic.

Even so, the virus was around before November of 2019, or they would not have had enough cases to report it in November.   It doesn't just suddenly infect a bunch of people all at once, it starts with one person infecting a few, who infect a few (that is 3 to 4 weeks right there) and then those infect others.  It probably took 6 weeks or more for the numbers to get large enough for someone to realize there was a problem.

This is utter nonsense and it's not possible in anyway. Viruses that effect mammals are breed by mammals it's basic biology, mammals do not catch Viruses from Shellfish!!

Thanks for your link I do appreciate it, I do realize your correct however the Lunacy that this Virus Started from contaminated Lobsters just makes me chuckle so hard that my stomach hurts. The only way Shellfish could become infected with an RNA Virus like SARS-Cov-2 is from cross contamination from raw sewage being pumped into water sources. Viruses that endemicly spread by Shellfish start as intestinal pathogens, they do not cause airborne infections.

None of the known Viruses or Pathogens transmitted by Shellfish started with the Shellfish themselves, all of the known Viruses that are spread to humans started with Sewage contamination from Humans first. There are no known Novel Viruses from Shellfish that effect humans that started without human involvement. 

Now let's drop Shellfish and move on to Crustaceans since that is what this thread was about.

Lobsters may avoid their sick comerads, but one or a few sick lobsters could have been eaten by humans. That would have been enough.

And the sewage that caused the lobsters' disease did not necessarily have to be contaminated by humans. What about rats swimming in the sewage, or what about bird droppings
