Let's Go Brandon reaches #1 on iTunes Hip Hop Charts

I know some may think this belongs in the music section, but this song didn't go to #1 because of the music, it's there because of politics and the war being waged on conservatism by Big Tech.  So YouTube bans the song on their platform, why?  Who knows.  But as a result the song goes number one on downloads from iTunes.  The concept that the tighter you squeeze the faster it slips out of your grasp would seem to apply.

Not surprisingly this has gone unnoticed by most MSM outlets, thus I give you a story from Fox

The anti-Biden rallying cry "Let’s Go Brandon" is taking over iTunes, with rapper Bryson Gray’s song poking fun at the president sitting in the No. 1 spot of the music service’s chart on Monday, ranking ahead of pop music superstar Adele’s latest single.

"Let’s Go Brandon," which takes multiple shots at Biden regarding his chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal, cognitive ability and handling of the coronavirus, features Tyson James and Chandler Crump.

An anti-President Biden rap song inspired by the viral "Let's go Brandon!" trend is now sitting at the top of the iTunes hip-hop chart.

The song, performed by rapper Loza Alexander and entitled "Let's Go Brandon," first went viral on TikTok before making a fast rise up the iTunes hip-hop chart to clinch the number one spot. The song was inspired by the "Let's go Brandon!" trend that has been sweeping the country since NBC sports reporter Kelli Stavast interviewed NASCAR driver Brandon Brown following his victory at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway earlier this month. During the interview, the crowd could be heard chanting "F--- Joe Biden" in the background, which Stavast seemingly misheard as "Let's go Brandon!"

Was it Woodie Guthrie who had “this machine kills fascists” written on his guitar?
Music as protest. Brilliant.
Music as protest being banned? That kids proves the protest has power.

It’s crazy. In my youth the idea of burning or banning books (ideas) was an anti-American trait. It was what the communists and fascist did. If we heard about a “banned” book we wanted to get ahold of it to find out what was in it.

The days of confiscating book and burning them is long gone. Now titles are just removed from distribution platforms or content is removed from social media,

Protest music is crap. I fricken hate it.

Nothing worse than trying to enjoy a night out and some idiot wants to talk politics.

I could never get into midnight oil for that very reason. Like the music, hated the lyrics. Think I'd rather listen to gangsta rap. Or opera.

I miss the days when Americans hated their government for hiding UFOs and bigfoot. Now that stuff had got too ridiculous it's turned to politics. Meh. It's more boring that's for sure.

The 1812 Overture is a piece of political music, it’s a grandiose love letter to Napoleon Bonaparte. Music has been political since Ogg the Particularly Loud and Rhythmic discovered that he could bang two rocks together and shout “down with this sort of thing!”

That's why it sucks.  Try to boogie to it. Just forget the tutu and gumboots.

That doesn't make it better. It's still rubbish.

Dunno about boogie - but I have had my students skipping to it. They learnt very quickly they could stomp at the BOOM.
tonnes of fun.

Bit tasteless, what was the anchor SUPPOSED to do? Go along? The FCC would have had her ass if she did.

Eh, political songs aren't really anything new- there are tons of anti-Vietnam songs for instance.

Heck even Trump had songs mocking him:

21 anti-Donald Trump songs for a protest playlist - al.com

As for banning, that was frequently done too.  Jane Fonda comes to mind.

Ignoring the FJB chant would've been the intelligent thing to do but no she had to try and turn it into something it wasn't and here we are.

I don't really have any interest in listening to it, but I don't find anything wrong with it existing.

I don't think the subject here is do we like protest music (not a fan either) the question is do we like censorship.  There is always the lame (in snotty little twerp voice) YouTube is a privately owned platform so they can blah blah blah blah......argument, which seems the lamest of lame reasons.  Their excuse that it gives bad medical advice as beyond laughable or ridiculous.  I sense a shift coming and it's going to go against censorship, snowflakedness, socialism, and leftist tech platforms.  They thought they were the rebellion but it turns out they are the empire.

Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC) walked off the U.S. House floor on Monday wearing a face mask that read “Let’s go, Brandon,” referencing the phrase that’s become a popular outcry for critics of the Biden Administration.

As you found it on YouTube isn't that point moot?

Was it ever actually banned? Was it suspended? Is there actually anything to be outraged about or is it just someone getting clicks for the song?

The only music I'd say that's worth the trouble nof going to YouTube for is Duran Duran's Girls on Film

Otherwise Spotify is heaps better.
