Simple COVID-19 Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treating on Halloween 2021

Halloween 2020 brought creative ways to trick or treat while minimizing the spread of infection (candy catapult, anyone?). But scientists have since determined that the risk of transmission of COVID-19 via candy wrappers is low.  But many Parents may be wondering if participating in Halloween fun and games is safe, or if they would be better off staying home this year.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said that kids can indeed still enjoy a safe, fun Halloween. But here are a few simple precautions that trick-or-treaters can take.

My grandson's school had their halloween party this past Saturday.  It was outdoors in the parking lot, called Trunk or Treat.  The kids wore their costumes and everyone was required to wear a mask.   Some of the parents volunteered to decorate their cars and give candy to the little kids.  There were also some booths where they could play games or do arts and crafts.   The booths were the fund raiser part for the school.

We also found out that the mall will have a trick or treat event on Halloween so the kids are not going door to door.  Everyone still has to wear a mask at the mall.   It keeps kids off the streets but gives them a place to wear their costume.

When our daughter was that age we were fortunate enough to live in solidly friendly neighborhood where the parents made a real event out of the evening.  One guy even had a small tractor and flat trailer we used like a hayride.  These days, safety has to be the first consideration above all else.

Please take your negative toxic political rhetoric to another thread. This thread is designed to give parents some safety considerations so they can send they children out safely to Trick or Treat.

That's a really great idea and masks can be built into a Halloween costume without much trouble. Anyway, what ever it takes to take care of the kids, this Pandemic has screwed up their lives enough, they need to have some fun and they deserve nothing less!
