A 10-year-old boy has died after being attacked by a dog, police have said.

The incident happened at a house in Pentwyn, Penyrheol, Caerphilly, on Monday at about 16:00 GMT.

Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service went to the scene where the boy was pronounced dead.

Gwent Police said the dog was destroyed by firearms officers and officers would remain in the area while an investigation was carried out.

One neighbour said the attack took place at one of the houses on the street. He said he was shocked to hear what had happened.

"Gwent Police said the dog was destroyed by firearms officers"

Listen.....Is that the sound of a stable door being shut?

I saw this on a Sky News link. They also say the dog was very big and aggressive, even when police arrived. My heart breaks for that poor little boy and his family. Police said when they arrived at the house, they were met by concerned neighbors. The dog obviously needed to be put down.

The constables rapidly managed to "distract the dog very quickly" and remove Jack from the building, but it was too late to save him.

Inside the home, the animal was said to still be acting "aggressive", running around the premises and "attempting to escape".

Firearms officers followed the initial response and destroyed the animal.

and they STILL used this unstable aggressive dog as a stud???? as much as i like dogs, but whoever got those pups needs to watch them carefully, and at first sign of aggression they need to be put down,

this is classic backyard breeder with  no regards for what they bring into this world, i hope they throw a book at that lady.

Did i read it wrong?  It said it wasn't one of the banned breads, but, didn't say what  breed it actually is?

I never heard of an American Bully before. I looked it up and there is such a breed. Picture in link.

An American Bully XL is a variety of the hybrid, or designer, dog breed American Bully, also known as American Bully Pit, BullyPitbull, and BullyPit. This breed has only been around for a couple of decades.

In fact, it was first bred during the 1980s and 90s. The purpose was to create a good companion/family dog. American Bully was created by breeding an American Pitbull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier. The resulting litter was then further bred selectively to arrive upon what we call the American bully today. It was first recognized as a breed by the American Bully Kennel Club (AKBC) and later on by the United Kennel Club (UKC).
