Myles Posted August 22, 2022 Author #353 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Chicago carjackings are on pace to rise again in 2022 after already dramatic increases in 2020 and 2021, trending towards a number that would be six times higher than just eight years ago. "The data on Chicago carjacking through the years, and especially through the first half of 2022, serves as an unfortunate example of what happens when a city becomes 'open' for crime, with no real deterrence or consequences in most instances," wrote Wirepoints Senior Editor Matt Rosenberg, who analyzed the 2022 data. Chicago is on pace for 1,960 carjackings in 2022, according to data compiled by Wirepoints, blowing through the 1,848 record set just last year. The number would represent an over sixfold increase from 2014, when the city recorded 303 carjackings. The dramatic rise in carjackings follows a trend that started in 2020, when the number of incidents crossed over the 1,000 mark for the first time at 1,413, up from the 603 recorded in 2019. https://www.foxnews.com/us/chicago-pace-6-times-carjackings-eight-years-ago

The things people are getting hot about, like gun offenses, are very low by comparison. They're just more emotional and sensational, so make better click bait news. Myles Posted August 23, 2022 Author #358 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Detroit police are not only discussing the rise of carjackings in the city but the age of the suspects committing them. On Monday a suspect trio — ages 11, 12 and 14 — was arrested for reportedly carjacking vehicles right off the Jefferson North Lot. Carjackings are up 40 percent compared to last year, FOX 2 Detroit reports. "They think it's fun and there is no penalty to it," Detroit Police Department Lt. Clive Stewart told the TV station. The kids were allegedly trying to take Dodge Hellcat Chargers and Challengers, worth about $80,000-$90,000, when they were intercepted by officers. Not only are the suspects younger, but some are purportedly becoming repeat offenders. During a separate incident this past weekend, a 14-year-old was arrested. The unnamed suspect was out on bond from a carjacking in May when police say he jacked two cars on the city's east side. "Here we are a couple of months later, we are dealing with the same juvenile once again," Stewart said. The lieutenant believes the teen is likely linked to several armed robberies during his time on bond. Crime Stoppers tips helped officers get him this time around. https://www.foxnews.com/us/detroit-carjackings-up-suspected-trio-includes-eleven-year-old-police

Myles Posted August 23, 2022 Author #360 Share Posted August 23, 2022 A woman is wanted in Arizona after she was reportedly caught on video smashing a store employee in the face with a brick and repeatedly slamming the worker's head into the floor, authorities said Monday. The assault happened around 2 a.m. on Aug. 4 at a Circle K gas station store on 3151 East Broadway Road in Phoenix, the Phoenix Police Department said. A woman wearing a cheetah-print hoodie and a face mask walked into the gas station and hit the worker across her face with a brick before demanding the code for the cash register, police said. The suspect later walks out of the store with another woman who is carrying an armful of items, according to the video. Police said that one suspect has already been identified and arrested in connection with the incident, but detectives are still searching for the woman in the cheetah-print hoodie. Investigators described her as a Black female between 20 and 30 years old. She was last seen wearing the cheetah-print hoodie with "Washington D.C." printed on the front, multicolored pants, pink shoes and a black backpack. https://www.foxnews.com/us/arizona-suspect-smashes-store-workers-face-brick-beats-her-until-getting-code-register-police
+DieChecker Posted August 23, 2022 #361 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Fox News: California county saw 70% of criminal suspects released on $0 bail commit new crimes: DA. https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-county-saw-70-criminal-suspects-released-0-bail-commit-new-crimes-da Quote The California Judicial Council in April 2020 implemented the statewide Emergency Bail Schedule, or $0 bail, which supporters say makes the criminal justice system more fair for those who cannot afford to get released. "When over 70% of the people released under mandated $0 bail policies go on to commit additional crime(s), including violent offenses such as robbery and murder, there is simply no rational public safety-related basis to continue such a practice post-pandemic, especially in light of the increasing violent crime rates across California," Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig said in a Monday statement. Quote Of the 595 individuals released on $0 bail between 2020 and 2021 in Yolo County, 420 — or 70.6% — were rearrested for new crimes, and 123 — or 20% — were arrested for a violent crime such as murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, carjacking or domestic violence, according to Reisig's office.

Reminds me of the several Muslim men killed a couple weeks back. The media was ramping up to frame the actions as white supremisists, but turned out to be a Muslim fellow from their own community who had a grudge. Media's pretty quick to go for that white supremisist card.

Zebra3 Posted August 30, 2022 #375 Share Posted August 30, 2022 The flight of Chicago's female elite: Women business owners flee crime-ridden Chicago for the suburbs - and slam Mayor Lori Lightfoot for doing nothing about it Teresa Ging, who owns a bakery in the city, said she feels like a 'sitting duck' in the area after she was forced to confront a man who tried to steal a purse from her bakery in Chicago, on Friday. He vandalized her countertop before brazenly taking a bag as she was having a meeting - but she grabbed it back before calling police. However, officers showed up 40 minutes later, so she fired off an angry email to Mayor Lori Lightfoot slamming the police force and demanding more to be done to protect local businesses. She also addressed her concerned to Alderman Brendan Reilly but has yet to receive a response from them.
