Get ready for the Laundry List... The list of excuses why this is not due to even a single Liberal policy. It's going to be blamed on Covid, or Trump, or something.

See the same thing here in Portland Metro area. Sky high homicides. Reductions in police. Vehicle theft way up, like 100% over last year. Theft and robbery in general are up. Homelessness way, way out of control. But Mayor Wheeler says, "NOT MY FAULT!!" with blubbery tears coming down his face.

Who made metro laws allowing camping anywhere, and permitting public drug usage, and defunding the police? Who ran outside and joined with Antifa throwing rocks at the Federal Building? Wheeler did. He did everything the 2019 national liberal establishment told him would bring a "better world" and now the city downtown core is a ruin. Residents... Corporations... Small businesses... All have packed up and moved to the suburbs, or down I5 to Salem. Downtown Portland is a ruin.

This is a typical street in the downtown core of Portland. Windows all replaced with plywood. No one walking on the sidewalks. Doors all locked. This is the posh Pioneer Place area. You can tell by the sky bridge. This used to be where the expensive stores were, as well as travel agencies, and very nice restaurants. All closed, or at least under guard and key, now. Used to be, day, or night, that these sidewalks were crowded and you had to push your way over to get into the doors.

Comments are, as always, hilarious. Two kinds of posts. Those saying how horrible and criminal this is. And other totally excusing it as necessary.

I did like the person who posted, "At least they brought their own bags to save on plastic.". :nw:

The US Sun: Urgent warning over Walmart self-checkout scam that is hard to spot and could cost you hundreds....
https://www.the-sun.com/news/7103304/walmart-scam-visa-debit-card-self-checkout-pay/

Quote

The scam works when someone begins the process of purchasing a pre-paid Visa Card and leaves the kiosk without completing the transaction.

The scammer waits for someone to begin checking out at the kiosk after they left and hopes they’ll be unaware of the unpaid card already in the system.

That type of behavior really gets under my skin.  Thugs who have no respect for other people's property.

Seattle business owners outraged by the city’s crime trend put together a town hall-style meeting at a local barber shop to speak out about the violence and danger they face and to call on city leadership to take control.

"Seattle city council’s number one job should be to protect the citizens of Seattle," Kevin Rinderle with Yukon Trading Company said at the meeting Tuesday, according to KOMO News. "We’re here collectively begging for help."

Matt Humphrey, owner of Steele Barber and Spa in Ballard, said he organized the meeting to talk about possible solutions to crime issues as businesses contend with rampant break-ins, vandalism, drug use, violence and homelessness.

"When it comes to crime in Seattle, I just don't want to be silent anymore," Humphrey said.

"We've been broken into four times in the last couple of years, and when we're making our insurance claims, it's really hard because we're at the point where they could drop us," Karen Jahn with The Wax Bar said, according to KOMO New

"Our crew are often left to deal with increasingly aggressive behavior," Naramore said. "A common position for one of our baristas is to stand by the front door with her hands on the deadbolt lock because somebody is pacing back and forth in crisis in front of the store, and we’re just worried, terrified that they’re going to come in and we don’t know really what’s going to happen from there."

Another store owner said crime in the city might force the business to pack up and leave.

"That's a painful conversation to bring up, and we want to stay here for a long time, but it has to make sense, for us, for our business," Burke Lyman with Ascent Outdoors said.

The business owners pitched solutions such as adding more police officers to patrol the city on foot and reimbursing businesses when their stores are vandalized. Attendees also shared advice on how to appropriately handle a stranger outside a store who appears to be in distress.

A 16-year-old was arrested in the shooting of an NYPD officer early Tuesday, as police top brass say another two suspects remain at large.

Two officers, three-year and seven-year veterans of the NYPD, were in uniform in an unmarked police car patrolling the Bronx early Tuesday morning. While the officers, from the 48th Precinct public safety team, were on Prospect Ave. in the vicinity of 183rd St., they attempted to engage two males on the corner.

One of the officers was shot in the arm, "narrowly missing his vital structures," NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell said at a press conference.

"The police officer that was struck and shot still pursued the perpetrator," New York City Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch said. "His partner pursued the perpetrator. Recognizing his partner was shot, he throws him in the car, drives, transmits descriptions, notifies the hospital."

"If he could have when he got to the hospital, he probably would have done the operation as well," he added. "That’s how calm and professional these police officers were during chaos."

A 16-year-old male was taken into custody and a .32-caliber firearm was recovered from his person, police said.

As the officers pulled up to the corner, at least one male fired at least six times, striking the windshield and an officer who was seated in the passenger seat, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said. The officer was struck in the left arm. Six .32 caliber shell casings were recovered.

Both officers exited the vehicle and returned fire, Essig said. Responding officers gave chase and apprehended the 16-year-old suspect after a brief foot pursuit.

I'd 100% say "Leave". The city doesn't give a damn. Why should they keep your business there.

Once all the businesses are gone, the taxes will dry up, and then things will spiral quick.

This is already happening in Portland, where many of the skyscrapers are almost completely abandoned.

That's just a "knockout" attack. Prospective gang members do it as an initiation. Usually against feeble old people.

Shows how brave these low life's are.
