Progressives

Recommended Posts

Progressives are always crying, plaintively, about what they could do for America, if the wicked Conservatives would only get out of their way, for the poor, the needy, the ones without access to decent housing and protection from the criminal elements of society, the need for adequate public transportation, et cetera. However, in the Blue States, where they have, virtually, no conservative opposition, what are they actually doing to practice what they preach?

I have heard of it but I have never been there, trust me its not what it appears to be. When ever Asians try to create something like this as a Western Attraction it turnouts our really weird. Now one thing Korea and Germany do have in common is their Beer, the good quality Korean Beers taste like Good Quality German Beer. I have drank a great deal of German Beer while I was in German and I aquired a taste for German Dark Beer known as  Alt-beer which is a German-style Brown Ale. The word alt literally translates to "old" in German, and traditionally this type of beer is conditioned for a longer than normal periods of time.

Well the Koreans make their own version and its good anything in Germany

There are very few people, who can live up to their own standards.

That's the truth Zep that's because power in almost all cases corrupts men, no matter the principles or honor they had previously. It's sad but it can't be denied, and anyone who tries to denie it has never been in position to witness it. Few understand the road to happiness and peace is based on obscurity, and those who crave power will never find happiness and peace. :tu:

I live right on the boarder of this little town named Cornwall, New York. This is a very well off little town, who’s taxes are so high only a certain type of people, for the most part, live here. It’s not really a race thing, as there are a good percentage of minorities living there, people who had killer jobs in New York City, and decided they didn’t want to raise kids in the city. They have about an hour commute back and forth to the city.

The only reason I’m able to live here is because a few decades back my family bought this little quarter acre, just outside the town limits. But still in the same school district. My father bought it from my grandparents, and I bought it from him.

Me and my wife had the trailer removed and built a little home on the property.

I say all this to say I’m grateful for this town. Not only for the types of people who live there, but for the types of people who don’t. My kids go to a safe thriving public school. Is probably up there with the best in the country. It’s definitely top 2-3 in the state.

Violence, crime, etc are things for the most part we don’t have to worry about here.

10 minutes down the road from there is a town named Newburgh. That place is a horrific nightmare. I’d rather not have kids if I had to raise them there.

So I more than understand why people would want to keep their communities the way they are. Even if they pretend they want to see it change.

I think "Progressive" and "Conservative" are just titles/teams that people try to associate themselves with.  One guy at work branded himself a "Conservative" but his belief system was closer to socialism/communism in his personal life.  I.E. Government should control gas so gas prices would be cheaper (socialism), government should take over the ports from the companies and run them (socialism), guys at work should be paid the same and people should work what they are able to (contribute what you can/take what you need- communism), etc.

Aside from workers being paid the same, the rest, in my opinion doesn’t make someone a socialist. Seeing as the government has so much control over the price of gas, they should be doing as much as they can to keep prices low. Especially considering the monopolies they allow in the industry.

Ports fall under national security. We simply can’t have the mess we are seeing happen today

Pretty good video with some good points about progressives and a good reminder for them.

The official Democratic platform says in dealings with our fellow men, we should try to emulate Jesus, or maybe Buddha in the case of California.

Even in the bluest states progressive governments  value personal freedom.  Community activists may encourage it, but state governments are unwilling to override local jurisdictions and force the rich living among them to sell their property and give their gold to the poor.  I guess even the bluest progressives are still more in favor of personal freedom than socialism.

The lesson for progressives starts at 12:07 or so. "Let me be clear about something, in blue states progress is being made albeit slowly.  In many cases blue states provide more and better services, and historically have given low income families better chances to climb the  economic ladder."  But Democrats don't embody their values very well.  So the lesson is:  keep your eyes on your values and keep working to attain them. Do not be content to look back and see how far you are ahead of red states.

The point is they're not ahead of the red states. It like the guy said at the end, they're for everything they're for, just not in their neighborhood.

Was that the point?  Do we know that the wealthy people in California are liberals or might they be as conservative as the elites in every other state? Seems like the rest of the working middle class people are trying to live their values.

That's the problem with posting videos- I have no idea what opinion you gathered from the video that relates to what I posted.

I would freely admit that very few liberals or indeed very few people of any category live up to all of the Democratic Platform standards.

The question that might be worth discussing is whether we consider a party platform that espouses equality, justice, equal opportunity and care for the poor is a worthwhile party platform?

Should we strive to follow our higher selves or just surrender and say every man for himself and devil take the hindmost?

Is Biden a Progressive, or Moderate?

Seems he is pressing more toward the Progressive wing in his initiatives and executive orders.

In 2020 the swing voter wanted to turn away from the far right and nationalism, and believed Biden was a moderate. Which he used to be. These voters have since begun turning on him, and thus his approval is around 40%.

The progressives are pushing so hard they're guaranteeing a GOP take over in the 2022 elections. They just can't help themselves.

Drove through Portland the other day for a medical appointment. Theres homeless literally everywhere. And there heaps of trash everywhere. And graffiti everywhere. And boarded up businesses everywhere. And, like was stated in a earlier post, the government is 100% liberal democrats.

Over the hill to the west the suburbs have like 5% the homeless issues, and no trash, no riots, no graffiti. And are run by Republicans, or moderate Democrats.

The evidence is obvious.

Pasaki said Bidens 60% disapproval is due to angry Republicans. I didn't know 60% of the population was Republicans. Fact... Pasaki is just blowing smoke because there's nothing they can do about it but seek excuses. They're tied to that Progressive wagon too tight.

No he's a corporate Democrat like Pelsoi, Clintons, and Obama.

Not far enough as Progressives are concerned. So far he's more of a disappointment then anything because he broke a lot of promises.
