Eldorado Posted November 25, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2021 We know that centenarians live so long because they are unusually healthy. They remain in good health for about 30 years longer than most normal people and when they finally fall ill, they are only sick for a very short time. This “compression of morbidity” is clearly good for them, but also benefits society as a whole. In the US, the medical care costs for a centenarian in their last two years of life are about a third of those of someone who dies in their seventies (a time when most centenarians don’t even need to see a doctor). The children of centenarians are also much healthier than average, indicating they are inheriting something beneficial from their parents. But is this genetic or environmental? https://www.realclearscience.com/articles/2021/11/26/why_its_still_a_mystery_how_some_can_live_past_100_805272.html

That would help a great deal, but it more based upon genetics than most anything else because the groups of people I talking Smoke and have many other bad habits and still survive into their 100s.
Jon the frog Posted November 26, 2021 #9 Share Posted November 26, 2021 (edited) Luck with genetics is clearly part of it. A simple injury can ruin life expectancy after 70s year old. Edited November 26, 2021 by Jon the frog
csspwns Posted November 27, 2021 #10 Share Posted November 27, 2021 Love how this is a clear and beautifully written article where a proposed observation or question is followed by possible reasonings and analysis that can be easily followed. Awesome stuff and I hope they find the link which seems to be pointing towards beneficial genetics rather than lifestyle and environment for these centenarian and their children.
