Eldorado Posted December 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2021 Japan hanged three prisoners on Tuesday, its first executions in two years, with the government saying it was necessary to maintain capital punishment in the face of continued "atrocious crimes". Japan is one of the few developed countries to keep the death penalty, and public support for capital punishment remains high despite international criticism, especially from rights groups. More than 100 people are currently on death row in Japan, most of them for mass murder. Executions are carried out by hanging, usually long after sentencing. +and-then Posted December 21, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2021 I thought the U.S. was the only free nation that still meted out the death penalty. The Japanese still use the rope? I'd prefer fentanyl, meself...
+susieice Posted December 21, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2021 If most of them are on death row for mass murder, I can understand.
JenTF Posted December 22, 2021 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Wow, I had no idea hanging was still a way for people to be executed.
