The man was livestreaming on Facebook until it was taken down. The rabbi called another rabbi in New York City who called 911. It started around 11 am during services.

Saddiqui once lived in Houston and does have a brother that still resides there. Most of the family went back to Pakistan after her arrest. The hostage taker is definitely not her brother.

The suspect is dead.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/armed-man-takes-hostages-texas-synagogue-source/story?id=82285896

Colleyville Police Chief Michael Miller said an elite FBI hostage rescue team breached the synagogue at about 9 p.m. local time and rescued the hostages. Miller and FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Matt DeSarno confirmed the suspect was dead in a "shooting incident," but did not provide specifics.

DeSarno said they were aware of the suspect's identity, but were not releasing his name.

During the standoff, it was unclear to what extent the hostage-taker was armed. The suspect was carrying backpacks and had said that he has explosives. Law enforcement would not say at a press conference whether he actually did have explosives.

A standoff at a North Texas synagogue erupted with a loud explosion Saturday night, when three hostages remained inside, including the rabbi. The sounds that rocked the Colleyville synagogue sounded like a mix of gunfire and an explosion, according to multiple reports. This began Saturday with reports of a hostage situation at a live stream Shabbat service at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville drew local police

SWAT operations at the synagogue led to evacuation of nearby residents by the Colleyville police, who also urged people to avoid the area just northeast of Fort Worth. Although most hostages were released earlier during the 11-hour standoff, rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker had remained among the three hostages remaining. With the rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the service was being live streamed so members of the synagogue could watch it without actually attending. The hostage situation was seen on the live stream, which triggered law enforcement.

Hostages were released throughout the day, but no reason of why it happened has been revealed yet. After the explosion and subsequent gunfire sounds, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted that all hostages had been released and are "alive and safe."

So, a terrorist?

Ties to Pakistan... A synagogue... I see where this is going.

Glad they ended it quickly, with minimal bloodshed.

I can't open the msn link Manwon but this account is way over dramatic. There were only ever 4 hostages. One was released earlier. There was a loud bang and some gunshots as a SWAT team raided and the suspect is deceased but his identity has not been released yet. He claimed to have a bomb but it's unknown just how armed he was. The rabbi called another rabbi and that rabbi called 911. LE didn't see the livestream.

I can open this MSN link. Authorities here have not yet released any info about the suspect that I've found.

They may be right El. The latest article I can find is that LE is investigating the suspect and that the investigation will have "global reach". They haven't released anything else here yet.

They are hinting towards a British link.

The suspect has been identified, FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno told reporters in a news conference after the hostage rescue, but authorities are not revealing his identity as the investigation continues.
That probe includes international outreach, DeSarno said, including to FBI offices in Tel Aviv and London.

He's a Brit:

A man who took four hostages at a synagogue in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, has been identified by the FBI as British citizen Malik Faisal Akram, 44.

The man who interrupted a morning service in Colleyville on Saturday was shot and killed after a 10-hour standoff with police.

All of the hostages at the Congregation Beth Israel were freed unharmed.

US President Joe Biden called the hostage-taking an "act of terror" and the UK condemned the attack.
