As a personal curiosity, when I was about 13 (am almost 43) I remember going with my parents to go see a priest that claimed that many illnesses could be told by checking the human eye, not in some sort of spiritual way, but by actually observing the eye with ophthalmology equipment.

Interesting, it is non invasive. But I cannot see the method replacing a body scanner and its more initial conclusive results.

Course not, it may be a step forward in fast and cheap analysis

You could look into a camera on your phone or computer and get a quick diagnostic from anywhere with little time or expense involved.  You could track changes over time and store a record that might be useful as a baseline  Just like a Fitbit watch can track blood pressure pulse and sleep patterns, an app on your phone might give early warning of changes that might require a more serious follow up. For many people that would allow the early detection of conditions that might escalate into more serious stages if ignored..

The use of eye tests to check for other ailments wouldn't have been a benefit for me as I have never had an eye test.

Or at least not since leaving school   where they discovered my colour vision was slightly off but not enough to be colour blind.

I have needed glasses for reading in the last 4/5 yrs and, as I don't suffer from an astigmatism, I buy them from the local supermarket.
