Huge lorry queues at Dover as port bosses call for talks on EU checks

Huge lorry queues building up at the Port of Dover have been blamed “entirely” on extra controls which have come into force from Brexit.

It comes as port chiefs urged the UK government to hold talks with the EU on ways to ease further checks set to come in later in 2022 which could cause “disastrous” disruption to trade.

One courier told The Independent he had been caught up in queues of up to 15km since full customs controls came into force at beginning of January.

The British haulier said it was taking 15 to 20 minutes for each driver to clear checks needed for the UK government’s new Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) system and other export paperwork at Dover.

“It’s entirely Brexit – you can’t blame it on anything else but Brexit,” said the driver, who has had to push back some deliveries.

Surprise surprise.

UK citizens will be checked by French police at Dover under a bilateral deal with Paris.

I can't think why the French would spend extra time with biometric checks in Dover.

How did you deliberately miss the point :innocent: All those extra bits of customs paperwork are the issue not passport checks.
But by the way - in the past going through the blue Isle was almost instant - now not so much.

Red tape is about control.    Everyone blamed red tape because of other countries policies, this was the excuse to create Britain joining the EU to stop this red tape senario.   If deliveries can't pass through a country without all this paperwork control mechanism, then something is seriously wrong.     A tin of baked beans has to be checked, verified and stamped to pass some policy.  Or is that a human being?

Without such checks there is an open invitation to smuggling and fraud. Revenue is not collected and vital public services are starved of cash . And let's face it it's not in the EU member states interests to go easy on the UK who sold the Brexit plan on having your cake and eating it avoidance of the rules.

What it actually shows is a complete failure by the UK government to plan, invest and build infrastructure for an entirely anticipated set of circumstances. This sort of incompetence and myopia is what brings countries low.

UK chose the hard way, now is complaining that it's hard.

Yeah yeah it's the EU fault, how evil it is on treating the UK as a third country despite being a third country to the EU now.

Enjoy your cake.

Or you can be reasonable and rejoin the costums union (very unlikely cause it means that brexit was a bad idea)

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

More importantly, and as with everything Brexit, you did it to yourselves, wilfully. You chose third country status by leaving the EU and wanting out of its Single Market and its Customs Union.

Despite it currently being the BIGGEST elephant in the political and economic room, the media rarely mention Brexit, no politician will use the word, and Brexiteers are still pretending there is no problem!

Your own language bible, the Oxford English Dictionary, defines stupid as:

'characterized by or associated with a lack of intelligence, perceptiveness, common sense, or good judgement; foolish; ill-considered.'

That's Brexit and Brexiteers for you - stupid.

I knew you would type that.    considering the amount of smuggling and fraud going on in the world, that is just an excuse.   Look at dover with smuggling people into the country and no one ca nstop that, but a can of beans has to be scutinized, searched, and oked to travel out or into the country.

Brexit ?????  can you show me where there is a BREXIT as I can't see a Brexit at all.   It was in name only.

The public services are starved of cash because of poor management.   Look at how much money was spent on this last two years.   Always money when they want it, but for food and services.....Where is that money again?

Money is a control mechanism which doesn't exist except in your head only.  It's private Credit channelled to serve their agenda and control over the people.

UK drivers were having their ham sandwiches removed a while back. Now, under the same rules, they are not going hungry

I am sure, in the same way, the same rules can be applied which is both effective and reasonable, although this concept is not always associated with the French. ;)

Why is it Brexit is blamed on all this, but no one ever knows about the paperwork behind it?    The queen (trustee) could of prevented this by us not joining the EU in the first place and yet there was no problems before even joining the EU which was the common market. This was treason by the Government in the first place and the queen did nothing as (trustee) thus breaking the law.   Brexit is not the problem, something sinister is happening somewhere along the line.

Laughable logic. The British population chose to join the Common Market - the Queen had no power to stop the will of the people.
In the UK's Parliamentary Government the Queen only has symbolic power.

In total, over two-thirds of voters supported continued EC membership. 67.2 percent voted 'Yes' and 32.8 percent voted 'No'.

That was the EEC.   So yes the people voted to keep the common market.

Britain Joins the European Economic Community

The Treaty was signed by Edward Heath, the British Prime Minister, in Brussels on 22 January 1972. The European Communities Bill was then introduced in the House of Commons to give parliamentary assent to Britain's membership of the EEC. Although the bill itself consisted of only 12 clauses (accepting all previous EEC regulations, the Treaty of Rome, and the terms of entry), it was subject to some 300 hours of debate before becoming law.

Britain's membership of what was then primarily an economic union came into effect on 1 January 1973. Since then the Community has developed into a much broader entity, the European Union, which was formally created by the Treaty of Maastricht of 1992. The terms of Britain's agreement to the Treaty received parliamentary approval in the European Communities (Amendment) Act of 1993, and the Union came into force in November 1993.

However; the fact we entered should never of been allowed to happen in the first place.  The queen knew this was not allowed but allowed it anyway.   True, the queen allowed to the people as benficiaries to choose to enter the EEC with the 67.2 vote.

So why was this allowed in the first place when the queen knew this was a sovereign land and she was under contract?    That there lies the question.

So of course when the European union came around and the vote was to leave with 52% of the vote, this pi$$ed off many corporations and took 4 years to happen.    But as we know now, it means nothing with Dover and immigration.    They still want to take the power away from the royal family and the English constitution (contract) which goes back to the 1217 magna carta.

https://www.bsswebsite.me.uk/History/MagnaCarta/magnacarta-1217.html

Know ye, that in the presence of God, and for the salvation of our own soul, and of the souls of our ancestors, and of our successors, to the exaltation of the Holy Church, and the amendment of our kingdom, we grant, and by this present Charter we have confirmed for its and for heirs for ever, by the counsel of our venerable fathers, the Lord Gualo, entitled a Cardinal Priest of St. Martin, Legate from the Apostolic See; the Lord Walter, Archbishop of York, William, Bishop of London, and other Bishops of England, and William Mareschal Earl of Pembroke, Guardian of us and of our kingdom, and others of our faithful earls and barons of England, these underwritten liberties to be held in our realm of England for ever.

For ever means Forever or until they can start a war between the English and muslims and everyone else to remove this constitution.  The evidence is there to suggest this is a high possibility.

Sovereign person bull****. I thought most people had grown out of that delusion.

The UK has no formal constitution and all Laws and Treaties can be superseded by acts of Parliament. That's how it works and wishing it otherwise is a form of madness.

NO... It's the Queens Government.    Why then was Brexit allowed to happen and the Government and surpeme LORDS couldn't stop it?  Why did the queen hold palriamentry proceedings and tell the people what her government must do regarding Brexit?

THe queen holds the highest legal power as (trustee)and over rides the supreme LORDS legal power what is written down on paper as acts and statutes.  She can override these, but it is the will of the people that keep them in through voting for manifestos by the labour of conservatives.   They are only on PERSON and hold no fiduciary power with any human being, in other words no contract with the people, so they can say whatever they like as a promise with no VERB = contract.

The queen as a symbolic power?  could you give a definition for this symbolic please????

More ****ed up logic. If the Queen ever tried to block an act of Parliament you would quickly see how symbolic her power is. She doesn't because she has legal advisors which tell her the limits of her power - which is literally nothing

The queen is a sovereign and why she needs permission to enter such place like the city of London, and needs to ask the mayor for permission to enter.  She is out of her sovereign jurisdiction if she enters the city of London.   Remember she is a sovereign and why she needs no driving license to travel in her iron horse.  She doesn't do commerce as her sovereign self.

PERSON?  you do know that PERSON is Corporation and so the bible states that if anyone uses this PERSON = Corporation commits a sin.

https://creationism.org/BibleUKJV/59Jam02.htm

2:9 But if all of you have respect to persons, all of you commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

11 For there is no respect of persons with God.    < in the bible.

So if the queen enters the CITY OF LONDON she has crossed over to a place that is owned by the VATICAN, and taken over by the ROTHSCHILDS, so a legal jurisdiction. She has no jurisdiction there at all as a sovereign.   CITY OF LONDON is a corporate entity and why they have a seperate police force to look after it.   The police were told to allow the city workers whom took cocaine and allowed them off because they run the entire show in the world.   No crimes were committed as the police were under orders in a legal jurisdiction.

Her power is complete over the government. She doesn't use her powers to govern as that ensures her longevity on the throne by staying neutral. Her advisers have advised her well but she is canny too.

Again the proof is in the actions she takes - there was a little matter of a beheading of a king to establish the supremacy of the Parliament. What the Sobvereign was left with after that little incident was symbolic power and her assets.

How can you people be so ignorant of your own history.
