The poor, the cold, the lonely...and the homosexuals drinking cups of local melted snow for coffee which they stand in line for hours to get and birds on Tuesdays, and we are very grateful for these handouts form our government.  That was so epic!! :D

I loved the bit about coffee made from snow.  By far the best thing about it is the emotionless northern accent of the guy doing the voice over.

Any Kaiju fans? If so you have probably heard about another North Korean propaganda film called Pulgasari. Apparently Kim Jong-il was a big movie buff and an avid Godzilla fan. He kidnapped a South Korean movie director and forced him to make movies for the DPRK including Pulgasari. It’s often referred to as a propaganda film although the political message is more subtle and allegorical.

I have made coffee using snow - way back when on a camping trip.  Prefer hot chocolate, though.

I wonder how they explain everybody and his brother having internet access, most in their own homes.

If you keep the people from the truth they will believe what you say.

Internet access is not generally available in North Korea. Only some high-level officials are allowed to access the global internet. In most universities, a small number of strictly monitored computers are provided. Other citizens may get access only to the country's national intranet, called Kwangmyong.

Oh, that collapsed long ago ;)  Now we are grateful just to drink snow and eat pigeons.

Isn't North Korea a pretty cold country? I mean they are pretty far up, as far as latitude goes...

What was that "parts of America dsiguised as countries in Europe" about though? Did they film footage in Russia (or something) and wanted to use it for their propaganda film?

"Apart from these. which will be eaten on Tuesday. They are yummy."

It seems to be a joke.  Can anyone speak Korean?

Yeah, I agree, it seems a bit too silly to be true, I'm currently looking thorugh the comments on youtube to see if anybody says whether the video is fake or something.

The bit about the birds being eaten on Tuesday is the one that puts it in the satire zone. Most of the rest I can see North Korea claiming, but that one was a bit too specific.

This is an actual short propaganda film by the DPRK educating North Koreans on the horrors of life in capitalist America.

Such horror include:

-Having our only source of coffee be boiled from snow, which we must wait in line several hours for.

-The entirety of America being freezing and snow covered the majority of the year.

-Our homes have a tendency to collapse at random because they are built so poorly, which requires most of the population to live in tents, often made from material provided by North Korea.

-We are so starving our primary source of food is catching little birds out of trees and eating them.

-The American population waits on baited breath for North Korea to intervene so we too may live in a socialist paradise.

-We are all miserable, lonely, and homosexual.

Enjoy, and praise our Dear Leader!

(PS: My coffee is brewed from only the finest snow imported from Sheboygan, Wisconsin thank you very much)

What North Koreans are taught about how Americans live

I saw that a few years ago and its funny.

But we do it to them too, we have often claimed they are so starving they eat the grass or are amazed when they find a plastic water bottle washed up on the shore.

I'm actually reading Yeonmi Park's book "In Order To Live" right now. Sadly, there have been many famines in which North Koreans had to resort to eating grass and even worse things. You never know what you're willing to do until you're starving. Starvation is an extremely slow and ugly, horrifically painful way to go. As much as we in our hearts have the wishful thinking that 'maybe it's not THAT bad over there' - Unfortunately, it is. People know it's an awful state of affairs over there, but often they don't know just how bad the human rights crisis actually is. I'd recommend Yeonmi Park's book and/or Youtube channel if you want your eyes opened on just how horrifying it is over there. :(

The 38th parallel is the Demilitarized Zone separating North and South Korea.  Colorado's south boundary with New Mexico is the 37th parallel; its north boundary with Wyoming is the 41st parallel.  The US border with Canada is the 49th parallel.

What North Koreans are taught about how Americans live

Cool Thread Mandy, thanks for sharing, and yes it is certainly hilarious!:D My first Military Duty assignment in South Korea was at Camp Liberty Bell from 1987 to 1988 fews kilometers from Panmunjom where Trump met Kim Jung un. At that time Camp Liberty Bell was the main patrol base, at that time US forces patrolled the DMZ, and sill occasionally shots were still being fired back an forth. The dam North Koreans use to play extremely loud music all night long, and the commentator below use to tell us that North Korea was our friend and that we should just run across the Demiliterized Zone where would be treated like kings. Sometimes the broadcasts across the DMZ would tell us to turn against our Governemnt because it is corrupt. They would also float ballons across the DMZ that would burst and release Propaganda leaflets, these were hilarious because they would have cartoon images of the mistreatment of US Soldiers by US Military Leaders.

Sometimes they would broadcast in Korean, telling the Korean Soldiers augmented to US Forces called Katusas, to cut the throats of the US soldiers they worked with and then come to North Korea where they would bw treated like Kings. After a year ( Length of duty assignment ) any low background music would sound like the crap they use to broadcast, it lasted for about 6 months and then it finally just stopped. In South Korea the Governemnt immediately excepts North Korean defectors as South Korea citizens after debriefing. They then send to relocation centers where they cloth them, and give them everything needed to survive including taeching them to read and write. Along with training to help them fit in because most of the defectors are completely illiterate, then they supply them with housing and jobs all free of charge.

This Photo is the only News comentator used in North Korea!

This is what the North Korea countryside really looks like people are starving to death!
