The whole world now mocks the UK as a Circus led by a clown

"The sad thing here is that the marks (johnsons fans) cannot see how you have been played."

As I've said previously, I can think of several good reasons why Johnson should 'walk the plank' not least his woeful approach (or lack of) to the daily cross channel invasion. But trying to crucify him for cake & a party on his birthday. Again the timing.

As regards Boris`s partying, well I have partied too throughout coronavirus.

I kind of suspect a lot of people have haha.

You know, I think you represent everything that is wrong in U.K. society today.  The reasons people are upset about this are not a ****ing joke.

As this has played out over the weeks, you can clearly see Boris’ chain of thought about how he can manoeuvre his way out of this.  He’s a prick plain and simple.

When the first allegation came out, if he had simply admitted fault and said that he had attended others, fine he’s sorry job done move on.  But instead, he waited out each allegation, hoping each one would be the last.  Now he’s damaged himself and given that Snake Starmer enough ammunition for next decade.

Much like Trump, I think Boris was a necessary evil in the schoolyard that is Westminster, a tool (in every sense of the word) to be used to shake up the establishment, a very clear message pointing at the state of U.K. politics.  But his time should be up, be very careful of charismatic leaders.

But back to the point in hand.  Cookie Monster can **** right off thinking the loss of loved ones is something funny.

Lets be plain about this, what he did, which is lie to the House of Commons is a resigning offense. He is a serial liar and this is just the one he tripped up on.
Its a question of moral character and his total lack of.

If you don't think lying to the House of commons is serious then you are as morally bankrupt as Johnson.

The establishment side, which is why they were so overwhelmingly biased against Jeremy Corbyn.

The establishment want a Tory government (in perpetuity) just not one that brings the establishment into disrepute - so Johnson must go.

Br Cornelius

That's because they are Blairites. Why do you think they give him so much free publicity whenever he comes out with one of his irrelevancies.

So did Tony Blair, only difference is his lies took us to war and all that went with it. Did he do the honorable thing & resign?

Think most people are agreed he is a war criminal, does the BBC run stories (or ever did) on him facing justice?

Blairites are Tories.
Its the sort of weak bland Toryism which the establishment want.

In some respects I agree, Perhaps Boris should go, but problem is we have to be sure he's not replaced by a remainer and ignore the wishes of the people. Perhaps if Lord Frost or Jacob takes over it would be for the better.

The current wishes of the people are to return to the EU, so which wishes of the people are you referring to ?

See, there was this referendum a few years back.....oh, never mind.

The problem if Boris goes is that it sets a new precedent for what the MSM expect to be able to get away with and how much power the BBC think they wield. They will have removed a political enemy PM by sheer weight of negative reporting. The idea that Boris should resign because of these parties is simply ridiculous. They don’t even register on the scale of important issues facing the country.

This is the follow on from where Trump was impeached 3 times and aquitted 3 times. The scandal should have been that the opposition used impeachment to try to remove a political enemy but the subject was entirely ignored.

As I said this was the lie that tripped Johnson up, then there are the untold other lies he has made in the House of Commons. That you don't see a lying PM as a problem says much about you priorities.

My priority would be that I never have to live under a socialist government ever again, the three times before have cemented that simple wish.

A good post, but you should point out that Boris used Brexit for his own advancement, not caring that it will make everyone in the UK poorer, have less freedom, damaged our major industries, and the huge majority in 2019 has allowed him to trash democracy. It will take decades to restore the UK to some sort of internal order, and its international standing may never be restored.

It cannot have escaped the notice of international partners that we have a liar for a PM who is quite prepared to break both internal laws and international treaties to further personal ambition. That sort of damage is massive and will have repercussions for years if not decades.

Lying to Parliament really does matter.

Name a politician at that level that doesn’t use the position for their own advancement?

When senior ministers reach that level they have vast careers and appointments that make the hundred and something thousand a year look like their nephews birthday money.

This is not a U.K. thing, it’s endemic across the world, and the EU is no different.

Sadly, and I wish this weren’t true, this will blow over in a few weeks, and the whole incident will be relegated to the odd documentary and new year ‘do you remember?’ Shows.

I don't think its a good idea, however it might look, to accept responsibility for something until some facts are known. This information reached the press via unidentified leaks.

Its not that long ago we were being told the Russians were influencing media and planting stories and the drip feed of partygate information could look like a plot against the UK government. Instead its more likely to be the 30 odd anti Boris MP's and an unknown number of civil servants who have an axe to grind.

So not apologizing and by association accepting blame, or involvement, is not attempting to dodge but something a good brief might advise a client to do.

Boris has since repeatedly apologized for what went on.

As we know Starmer was also photographed with others drinking at work, yet he claimed his situation was less important and the press seemed to agree as they largely ignored the story.

So have Boris and others at number 10 broken lock down rules, probably, does this require he and others resign over it.

Well, as the offence would usually attract a small fine, then I think the jury is out on that and possibly the few who have lost jobs did so due to the rabid politics employed in the UK.

Despite what it might look like the UK is usually somewhere that is inclined to give people a second chance and behave in a proportionate fashion. ;)

Not immediately throw a rope over the nearest lamp post.

The national self-harm of Brexit was enough to make the UK look ridiculous, but having a clown as a PM is the icing on the cake:

The ridicule of Boris Johnson over the Partygate scandal has extended across the East and West, with U.S. President Joe Biden's spokeswoman laughing at the Prime Minister being 'ambushed by cake' at a birthday party in No10.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Tuesday said Biden has 'never been ambushed by a cake' as she responded to a question on the lockdown-breaching parties at Downing Street.

TV channels in Russia have also been revelling in Mr Johnson's discomfort, with one branding him 'the most disliked, disrespected and ridiculed character in Britain' who was 'completely under the control and heel of his young wife' Carrie.

Look, let me just tell you this as an American who's society is going to be dealing with the aftereffects of OUR barely-squeaked-in fat orange racist lump...it's a survivable event. Yeah, it sucks, yeah it was a dark time in our society, yeah it made a lot of messes that we're gonna spend a decade or more cleaning up assuming his NEXT coup doesn't work...but it's a survivable event. England will get through this, you got through the troubles, the blitz, that time the Queen whacked a princess in that tunnel, you're tough old b*******, you'll be fine at the end of the day. After all, we learned 'deal with nasty stuff coming down the pipeline' from ya'll back in the day.

To be fair, Tony wasn't doing it alone. He was going off of his American and other coalition allies and their intel...it just happened to be true that out intel was absolute horse****.

We all know that this is media driven, they had all this info on him over a year ago but bring it out now just as covid is easing off. Behind all this is the drive to reverse Brexit & the BBC & assorted metropolitan chattering classes are the biggest cheerleaders.
