I know what you mean, absolutely. But it is a European war that is happening. Europe. It may not be your continent, but it is mine, and it is precious to me, and affects us in Europe. More than half the people in the UK realise they are Europeans and we feel an affinity for our own continent. Sorry about that if it offends you.

I’m Scottish, living in Scotland and anti-Brexit. Less than 30 miles from where I live is literally the first target to be hit if Russia launches nukes on NATO.

This simply isn’t the thread to speak about Brexit. Start another thread if you have something to say, and keep the partisan stuff well away from this one.

If you don’t mind.

That’s a pretty bold move if true.

Its just speculation that I have heard but it would make sense keeping the good heavy armor units in reserve till they could have the greatest impact or most needed.  Ukraine has about 1,800 T-64s of various models, not sure how many are actually functional, but most of them are completely outclassed in armor, fire power, and accuracy by every tank Russia is using.

With the way Russia is performing currently a large armored push against demoralized Russian troops who havent been eating, have little to no ammo and little to no fuel would probably be rather effective.

This is completely my opinion but a large armored push to retake Crimea isnt strictly impossible with how the war is going, just not sure if it would be a smart move or not.

I do opologise, Brexit doesn't affect Scotland. Keep your Haggis up your Highlands. But don't look what it doing to your fishing, farming or your industry, or the UK, or you may have to open your mind, lol!

They got an upgrade to 100 of them in 2019.

The post reads, “The best combat capabilities, modern thermal imagers, secure digital communications, satellite navigation, and new dynamic protection – all of this was gained by our tank crews thanks to the specialists of Ukrainian defence.”

The vehicles are referred to as the T-64 2017 and enough of the upgraded tanks have been delivered to equip an entire brigade.

(Reuters) - Several European subsidiaries of Sberbank Russia, majority owned by the Russian government, are failing or likely to fail due to reputational cost of the war in Ukraine, the European Central Bank, the lenders' supervisor, said on Monday.

Sberbank Europe AG, which had total assets of 13.64 billion euros ($15.3 billion) at the end of last year, along with its Croatian and Slovenian units, suffered a rapid deposit outflow in recent days and is likely to fail to pay its debts or other liabilities, the ECB said.

What you on about? You’ve just shown me in a few sentences you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

Feel free to start another thread to continue this discussion.

Hi Eldorado

After covid most countries are suffering financially and Russia should have known that they really don't have the resources that they thought they could employ.

Win or lose Russia is in for some hard economic times for some time to come.

Listen kid. I'm American and we are a lot of things, but at the moment we are solid behind the EU and Ukraine. I really don't think Putin wants to start throwing nukes around. So how about for now we concentrate on getting rid of the nut. We can go back to b***hing about each other in our own blessedly peaceful way after this is over.

The EU jets are rumoured to be flown by EU volunteers, and they should be there now.

Belarus has just entered the war officially, according to reports.

I don’t think people quite realise it yet but we’re already all at war with Russia.

Well that's not fair. Those people really do want war.

Sending a few old, USSR-era planes isn't going to change the outcome. Espically as Russian forces are closing in massively on major cities.

Citizens from France and America have been told to evacuate Russia IMMEDIATELY, by any means necessary.

How prey are they going to do that when no other country will allow Russian jets to fly out?  The people are now behind The New Iron Curtain.

I hope you're not suggesting victims should not fight back.

Especially since the victim is the whole world and the perpetrator is increasingly isolated little psycho.

I am not suggesting any such thing.  I would die with you... broom stick in your hand fighting by your side.

The victim is the whole world...and the people in Russia.  Now they couldn't leave if they wanted to...no one is allowing Russian jets into their airspace.  The New Iron Curtain.

You know the irony here is Putin is claiming he did not want Ukraine to join Nato as to have them on his border there then. But Belarus just voted to allow Russia to put nuclear weapons and troops there permanently on the EU border.

I think Putin better get used to having a whole lot of stuff on his border. Personally, I'm upset that no one is going into Ukraine to help them.

Hi Razman

Before they can build any sites it will be years to recover financially after this fiasco and will suffer heavy sanctions for some time.

I think it is interesting that so many people seem to be of the thought that Russia is losing the war...

Ukraine wins WWIII against Russia?  Somehow, I just don't see that happening.

This could escalate...

Hi Susieice

We have to play by the rules and Putin has to keep breaking them to the point that the rest of the world can step in to show force due to war crimes.

Hasn't he already committed war crimes? He attacked a children's hospital.

He's threatened a nuclear attack.

Hi Susieice

Yes he has and if he lives through this he may end up in a gulag, I think what many countries are doing is watching if he tries to expand his assault on other ex-USSR countries. Everyone has gotten involved as far as they legally can and will support with supplies the means to defend themselves. Putin has been shown the world does not support him all we need is for his people to see and react to what is going on and protests have started so people will become aware of the situation.

Really?  A Gulag?  He isn't going to expand any assault anywhere...he has a war going on in Ukraine...the people of that country cannot stop him.  The EU cannot stop him...he already knows the world doesn't support him and he doesn't care.

Do you remember years ago when I said...It isn't China you need to keep your eyes on...it's Russia.  This is what I was talking about.  The Russian people are not going to protest too much...they are in fear of him as well.
