I wonder where they would have gone if the cold war became hot.

Probably Putins backyard.  I don't know if they could afford to waste one on my town specifically , but there is a national guard , small place though.

Powerful blasts heard in Kyiv and other Ukraine's cities -local media

''Powerful explosions were heard in the early hours on Friday in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and a number of other cities across the country, local media reported.

Overnight, air raid sirens were going off over all of Ukraine.

Explosions were also heard in the southern city of Kherson, the eastern city of Kharkiv and in Ukraine’s western city of Ivano-Frankivsk.''

Seems Russia has resumed it's air campaign.

Odd that they've resumed their killing civilians in retaliation for their flagship accidentally, totally not because of Ukraine's military, spontaneously catching on fire.

Ukraine doesn't stand a chance against 200 000 Russian troops and state-of-the-art weapons and military hardware. That's just the reality.

It won't last very long if Putin is serious about taking control of the country. The West knows it, that's why the best we can do is economic sanctions.

Russia warns U.S. to stop arming Ukraine - Washington Post

''LONDON — Russia has warned the United States that there will be “unpredictable consequences” if Washington keeps arming Ukraine, The Washington Post reported on Friday.

“We call on the United States and its allies to stop the irresponsible militarization of Ukraine, which implies unpredictable consequences for regional and international security,” the Post quoted Russia saying in a diplomatic note to the United States.''

It's clear at this point that Ukrainian forces are a U.S./NATO proxy.

Yeah, it was a Ukrainian made missile sank the Russian flagship but you keep telling yourself that.

And you want them to be a Russian proxy. Just like you.

Don't you think that the people of Ukraine should be the ones who decide the future of Ukraine ?

As far as I rememeber you have never told us what country you are from, but I have a feeling that you don't want another country to dictate your future.

The Pentagon can't confirm yet how the Russian ship was destroyed. Either accounts can't be verified.

Though it seems more likely that a fire on board caused ammunition stocks to detonate.

So either a Ukranian made anti-ship missile sunk the flagship of the Black sea fleet or the Russian navy is incompetent to such a level that they sunk their own flagship.

Neither one is particularly good for the Russian navy.

Given the billions of dollars the U.S./NATO is spending in Ukraine (grants, loans) since 2014, I think it's fair to say Ukraine is no longer ''in control'' of it's future.

The U.S. is basically funding their millitary and taking care of their defense. Ukrainian forces are used as proxies against Russia.

If the Russia ship was destroyed by the Russian military's own incompetence than that would be an even bigger embarrassment honestly

Nobody wanted a war with Russia. What is happening now is a response to actions taken by Russia. Putin thought he could bully Ukraine and split NATO. He was wrong. Ukraine is fighting back and Europe is more united than they have been for decades.

Eesh.

Must be going pretty badly for Russia when you'd rather claim they accidentally blew up their own ship than admit Ukraine did it.

And why would they retaliate against Ukraine if they had nothing to do with sinking the ship?

Didn't Putler and his little cronies accuse Ukraine of launching airstrikes just over the border into Russia?

If its true, how did Russian air defence not spot them? Thought their air defence was supposed to be one of the best in the world.

Give it 5 minutes and @Occult1 will be along to tell you it wasn't Ukrainian airstrikes but was actually Russia accidentally shooting itself

It seems Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, over cross-border assaults by Ukrainian forces.

Reports are that two Ukrainian helicopters flying at low altitude have crossed the Russian border and hit residential buildings in the Bryansk region.

This isn't easy for any air defense systems to detect but they no doubt wouldn't have gone far into Russian territories before being taken down.
