You can't invade and conquer only with Airpower.  You eventually need boots on the ground.

We’ve had boots on the ground for 1 year and nothing has happened other than a stalemate. Anti tank weapons have made offence redundant. Only AirPower will save Ukraine.

Kremlin tells 'deluded' West that tanks for Ukraine will change nothing

''MOSCOW, Jan 20 (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Friday that Western countries supplying additional tanks to Ukraine would not change the course of the conflict and the West would regret its "delusion" that Ukraine could win on the battlefield.

European leaders meeting at the Ramstein U.S. Air Base in Germany urged Berlin on Friday to give the green light for the delivery of German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine to drive back Moscow's forces, although no decision was made.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: "We have repeatedly said that such supplies will not fundamentally change anything but will add problems for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people."

Asked whether the supply of increasingly advanced weapons to Ukraine meant the conflict was escalating, he said: "We see a growing indirect and sometimes direct involvement of NATO countries in this conflict ...''

Will tanks be a game-changer?

So why do you think Ukrainian command requested tanks?

Rhetorical question. I'm just reminding you that bizarre belief in air power alone is bizarre.

Also, Ukraine needs both tanks and air power. Obviously. Logically. And every-****ing-thing else.

Which reminds me russian ships are not in harbours, despite the weather. It's almost as if they expect they might spontaneously combust. I don't know why it crossed my mind. Maybe it's just because it's about time some of them are sunk.

I don’t know Helen. From my humble perspective AirPower is more beneficial. Anti tank weapons are amazingly easy to use and accurate over long distances. Russians have exceptional anti tank weapons that have destroyed Leo, Mervaka and Abrams in the past.

AirPower means you can attack the other guy well into their territory without risking as much. The war is a stalemate

Yes, you had boots on Ukrainian ground for nearly 1 year but you didn't achieve a stalemate. You're being grinded like beef on by the way basis, while the offensive is yet to come :)

Also, regarding "only air power", which is an obvious stupidity:

In your dreams.

It's 1 to 7 at worst, possibly as good as 1 to 10.

Total Ukrainian wounded and dead maybe match the total russian dead only. poopler is genociding you more successfully than you can genocide Ukrainians. Evil but stupid, fortunately.

Pantsir is for crapped russian pants, an illusion that kremlin can do something about the fact that they've lost the war, covered with propaganda for the crappy state of russian military and also have no idea what to do when the victim strikes back.

All the "experts" that still spread russian propaganda about russian military competence are idiots. Certified idiots.

Erdogan tells Zelenskyy he is willing to mediate between Russia and Ukraine

''Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Ukraine leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday he was willing to mediate between Russia and Ukraine to end the war between the countries.

In a phone call, Mr Erdogan said he was ready to contribute to permanent peace between the warring nations, the Turkish President's office said on Friday.

He said Ankara was ready to provide diplomatic support to ensure permanent peace between Russia and Ukraine, the Daily Sabah newspaper reported.''

Erdogan is no friend to Ukraine and is only trying to consolidate Russian gains. Turkey should be kicked outta NATO

Milley had a pessimistic assessment before, about the summer Ukrainian counter-offensive, which was proven wrong.

It could be that he likes working with the worst case method, so nothing can go worse than expected.

I'm not reading it, I'm just enjoying the pictures :) Die of jealousy.

Erdogan is the mastermind behind the Ukraine-Russia grain deal though.

I think he has proved Turkey can mediate, should there be a sincere attempt to end the conflict on both sides.

There's no sincere anything on russian side.

If russia wanted to end the war, it would get lost out of Ukraine.

russia is a freak of a country, genocidal, imperialist, lawless and brainless.

And only a complete idiot would trust russia will keep its word, proven to be worthless each and every time.

Which is why there will be no negotiations.

Only the counteroffensive. With or without desired amount of Western weapons. It would be better with, of course.

don’t really know why the grain couldn’t have been shipped to Poland or Romania? Zelensky is a tool for negotiating Ukraine’s economic rights to the protection of Russia and Turkey. So in that sense Erdogan is a genius.

But Turkey’s motives are suspect at best. Erdogan would like to solidify Russian gains to give his own ambitions at grabbing Syrian, Iraqi and Greek territories a precedent.

What a stupid thing to ask.

Grain was and is shipped via land routes too, which is all right for destinations within the EU, but for any overseas destinations, grain has to travel - this will shock you - over the sea. Which is why land routes across half a Europe or across entire Europe are a waste of time and resources.

The simplest, shortest and cheapest way to transport Ukrainian grain is out of Ukrainian ports.

Once russia is defeated and its Black Sea fleet annihilated, Ukrainian sea routes will be fully normalized.

You missed that little detail that Erdogan made it extra clear and very public that Turkey will never recognize Crimea as a part of russian fenderation.

Not to mention other occupied areas. The reality is exactly the opposite of what you're saying.

No, no, he has a point, there is very green grass or crops in the background of the destroyed unit. Though it's a russian product, maybe it looks like this even before you blow it up :D

Doesn't matter when, as long as it was blown up.

Helen. for a moment, think about what you write .

Ukraine could just as easily moved the grain through Romanian ports or railed it through to Greece, by passing the Black Sea completely as a temporary measure.

most of Ukraine’s grain goes to Europe and Turkey anyway not Africa and the poor.

So why would Ukraine, allow Russia, a country it is at war with, taken its best ports and threatens the rest and Turkey a country that has weaponised the strategic Bosporus straits to control its only export at the moment.

So Russia agrees for Ukraine to export what grain Russia hasn’t already stolen. And Ukraine thinks that’s a good idea. I’m really starting to question who’s side you really are on, Helen

@Helen of Annoy so Erdogan’s “benevolent” grain deal benefits himself with cheap grain with not just cheap Ukrainian grain BUT cheap Ukrainian grain that Russia stole.

You are such a trusting person, Helen. I’m really worried for you

Once again a completely factually incorrect statement.  The top 10 importers of Ukranian grain are China, Egypt, Indonesia, Spain, Netherlands, Turkey, Tunisia, Bangladesh, South Korea, and lastly Libya.

As for exporting grain by rail that does have an upper limit on the amount of grain that Ukraine can export limited by amount of rail lines and amount of train cars capable of transporting grain.  Ukraine is set up to export its grain by sea and not by rail so rail shipments will be drastically lower.

Russian offensive tactics have devolved to unprotected infantry charges over open terrain.

From what I understand that is a picture taken by Ukranian forces of an attempted Russian attack along the Zaporizhzhia front.
