Seems like Russia has tilted the balance in Donbas. It's a mathematical question at this point.

They have amassed a huge army with a tremendous amount of firepower in a 60,000 sq km area. They are reaching a critical point.

Pretty much. I think we talked about this weeks ago. The Russian army seems to be taking direct control and conducting a major offensive with proper coordination. Wait to see

Russia have had 500,000 (not 300,000) troops in Belarus training for the last 3 months.

They are equipped, and deployment will start soon. I dont agree they are going to be surged into the Donbass, they are going to take Kiev to end the war.

Yes Kyiv will be assaulted again. Whether they take it is another story

…it seems also Wagner has stopped recruiting prisoners. The private army has been pulled off many fronts and its involvement scaled back. Former mercenaries have even gone on the record as saying the Russian army refused to support them with artillery and air strikes. Interactions with other Russian units were at best minimal to non existent.

Russia prepares 2,000 tanks and 300,000 troops for ‘huge invasion’ in Donbas

''Russia has prepared almost 2,000 tanks and 300,000 soldiers for a renewed offensive to seize Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region in the coming weeks, a Ukrainian intelligence officer has warned.

The attack is expected to be bolstered by thousands more armoured vehicles, artillery systems, as well as hundreds of fighter jets and helicopters.

[...]

“We expect in the next 10 days a new, huge invasion,” a Ukrainian military official told the Foreign Policy news website.

Ukrainian military intelligence believes that Russia now has more than 300,000 troops inside the country, almost double the amount that were amassed on its borders before the start of the war, the official added.''

Does Ukraine stands any chance of keeping the Donbas region?

Why wouldn’t they? How many soldiers do you think Ukraine has right now?

Ukraine is massively outnumbered in Donbass. Russia is putting so much boots on the ground and overwhelming firepower that the odds have shifted drastically to Russia's favor.

It's about mathematics. Russia is winning in Donbas by sheer number.

Hi Occult

You do know that those tanks are older than you are and turret’s will pop even better that the ones that they wasted in the last year and will be no match for what the west is giving the Ukraine now.

T-62 has its ammo generally stored in racks to the right of the driver or in racks in the back of the fighting compartment.  Only 4 tank rounds are kept in the turret.

The T-72, T-80, and T-90 keep all of their ammo in a carousel under the turret for the auto loader.

That means that the T-62 will almost certainly never pop its turret and will definitely not be able to compete in turret tossing.

Russia has been confirmed to of lost 1,713 tanks, a lot of them are newer model Russian tanks including at minimum 10 T-90M tanks, 69 T-80BVM, and 487 T-72B3 variants.  Before the invasion Russia only had 67 T-90M, 170 T-80BVM, and 1,690 T-72B3 variants.

That means Russia has lost approximately 15% of their T-90M, approximately 41% of their T-80BVM, and approximately 29% of their T-72B3 variants.  Those are the most modern and arguably best tanks in the Russian military and they have suffered significant losses in all of them.

Well of course they do.  Hadn't you heard?  The "Orcs" are hapless, leaderless, have no reliable logistics, and are generally too vicious and stupid to live.  Ukraine should roll them up nicely this spring.  Well, so long as they keep getting all their equipment demands met by the west.

Don’t forget they’re too busy stealing toilets in order to fight efficiently

Let's see how things will go, if Russia finally learned on how not to conduct militar operations or if they keep insisting on just going in shooting crazy.

Russian TU-95 strategic bombers have started launching cruise missiles with impunity into Ukraine from well into Russian territory. Obviously targeting Ukraine’s infrastructure.

A little less dramatic after reading the full article. I guess clickbait will always have to dramatise the headlines nowadays.

"Despite this, it is believed that the launch will only be a test, as there have been delays in the development and deployment of this fearsome weapon under Putin's leadership."

"A warning has been issued by the Russian government regarding a potential test launch of a nuclear-capable strategic missile between February 15th and 25th."

The US military announced last week that it would take 300,000 American 155-millimeter artillery shells from a weapons stockpile in Israel and transfer them to the Ukrainian military. While not overly enthusiastic about the movement of the ammunition, Israel Defense Forces officials said the rounds were US-owned and that how they were used was “American business.

There's a test-fire scheduled for the missile. There won't be nuclear warheads attached to the missile. Fear-mongering.
