Yes.

Yes it could.

If Consciousness is primary, and fundamental to the whole of existence..

It it trully was, it would have kicked in a seld defense mechanism to prevent the damage 7 billions ppl are constantly making to be 12 billion in 2025.

Why, when we can do it ourselves. How do we know it hasn't already kicked in? Time is relative.

Very true , we're just an eye blink speaking of the time we've spent on this earth.

Sorry, but it is simply a big round rock orbiting a star. That's all there is to it.

Bah! You beat me to it. Was just gonna say that the earth is basically just a moss covered rock in space....

The problem I see is that it describes evolution as a goal oriented process with steps where you evolve from step to step or phase to phase.

I find this whole Gaia concept a bit hard to take. A few billion years ago life polluted the atmosphere with poison that killed off much of life, i.e. oxygen. That oxygen pollution turned out to be good for other life, not the bulk of life at the time. They died in droves.

I think that when we humans look at a sufficiently complicated system that also has the capacity for adaption, we are prone to start anthropomorphizing it. The fact is, out planet is crawling lousy with life, and that includes ourselves.  Events occur and the various animals, plants, and microbes act upon the system as their physical chemistry demands.  It is also important to abandon the idea that there is such a thing as 'natural equilibrium'.  Our planet is dynamic, and the food chain is often and easily disrupted by any number of factors, not always of human origin (just often of human origin).

On the other hand I have recently noted that with the rise in global average temperatures that we have seen an upswing in volcanic eruptions.  Contrary to what most people might expect, this has a tendency to spew ash into the atmosphere and start a cooling process as the ash reflects sunlight (occasionally with a helping of Tsunami).  Perhaps the answer is simply, that if the planet gets hotter, volcanoes erupt?  I mean, that energy has to go somewhere?  It can't all be lost to dramatic weather events, right?  I would love to hear what a geologist or microbiologist has to say on the issue.  I haven't been chatting with my usual academic buddies nearly as often as usual due to being up-country until covid blows over (due to my crappy respiratory system).

I am not a geologist, but I think I can answer this one.

When the atmosphere gets hotter, glaciers and ice sheets will melt faster than normal. The pressure they exert on the surface below will diminish, and, because of socalled 'isostatic rebound', the surface these glaciers and ice sheets rested upon, will rise and by that cause earthquakes (think of a zig-zag). These eartquakes, in turn, will destabilize the top of earth's mantle and cause magma to rise upwards through the formed cracks and thus form volcanoes.

I believe that the magma we see at the earth's surface originates almost entirely from processes within the crust.

Some of the areas of greatest isostatic rebound ares are not noted for their volcanoes such as Norway and Sweden. Volcanic activity is due to plate tectonics.

I've read somewhere (UM?) that isostatic rebound doesn't necessarily result in the formation (or eruption) of volcanos on the rebounding plate itself, but often at a large distance from it. But I'm not sure I remember correctly.

Caveat: Actually 5% of volcanoes are not due to plate tectonics and are known as intra-plate volcanoes but you are correct within a 95% margin Stereologist.  Yellowstone is in fact an intra-plate volcano FWIW.

In other matters, I like your answer as to why and how GW is creating eruptions. I wonder what specialists would have to say on this issue? (IDK your field).

If that is    all    there is to it…Who said that? .  . :P   .    That’s all there is to it ..except for LIFE ?    For some odd  reason,  to me,  that makes it seem ,at least somewhat, special.?

Yes , why not ..

Before all the fancy stuff invaded our space we were very good at reading the natural signs around us , the Earth has povided everything we need , so of course the earth is intelligent and patient too i might add  , we just need to catch up to her..

This reminds me of the anime blue gender,  Where planet earth decides to kill off mankind for polluting her. It creates super huge bugs similar to the ones seen in starship troopers and wins a massive war against humanity. Forcing mankind to move to space. It's a very good show and I recommend you watch it :D

The Planet is not a living entity.  It is a planet that hosts billions, trillions even, of living entities.

While our planet hosts life...it is not life.  Nor is it attempting to purge us.  It does what it does...

While i agree the planet is not trying to kill us off, i do believe the planet itself is a living, conscious being(call me crazy LOL). Ive heard stories of people entering a deep, meditative state and being able to connect with earth itself.

You are not crazy.  You are just mistaken.  The only consciousness on the planet are of the living creatures that inhabit it.  If the Earth is conscious then it is evil.  Otherwise it would guide us away from the Earthquakes, the Hurricanes, the Tornadoes, the Forest Fires, and protect us.  Stories are stories and they are as old as mankind itself.  The Truth is something else.  Keep looking...look within.

Does that make humans evil then?

Far from nurturing and protecting the lice and fleas that inhabit our bodies, we subject them to horrendous floods of poison, wiping our entire cultures at a time :o

Your analogy doesn't really fit because, on one hand...The Earth is not a Living Creature...Rocks and Mountains and Oceans are not alive.   The Atmosphere is not alive.  Our body's on the other hand are very much alive...and being attacked by other living creatures.  It is not evil to kill those that threaten us.

The entire point of being alive is to eat and keep from being eaten.  Sometimes to eat, one must kill...sometimes to keep from being eaten one must kill.

The only reason the Planet Earth has abundant life is because of it's orbit in a Sweet Spot for life around the sun.  Are their living Entities in outer space?  I don't know.  Their may be...but what I do know is that the Earth is not alive.  Put a Rock next to a growing daisy.  Not the same thing.  But see the honey bee on the daisy? That is the same thing.  Life is living and everything that isn't isn't.
