Yes, we have a lot of self loathing liberals (mostly media) in this country. Ask the average man or woman in the street and they'd tell you it was a good idea.

However, the people who shout the loudest against it will be the same people moaning about the lack of affordable housing and overcrowded school classrooms.

If anyone is wondering, the ECHR is not an EU court. It's a fully independent court which was set up after WWII - by the British with British lawyers and judges at Winston Churchill's behest to protect citizens from cruel and inhumane treatments by despotic governments within continental Europe. Only one country has left the ECHR- Russia, as it was criticised for invading Ukraine. I don't think the UK wants to join them in becoming a pariah state.

Of course, Archbishop Justin Welby is against sending illegal migrants to Rwanda; he seems keen to flood the country with young mainly Muslim men whose primary allegiance will never be to the UK no matter what we provide for them. Apparently, politically neutral Prince Charles thinks the policy of sending illegal migrants to Rwanda is appalling, but it is not clear in which of his copious and capacious stately homes he intends to house them all. What the UK without borders brigade have in common is that none of them will ever have to meet an illegal migrant, be shoved down a housing list because a migrant is being preferentially accommodated or lose their job because an illegal migrant will do it for less. No, that is a problem for the working classes and who cares about them?

The "let them all in " brigade presumably includes our present government, which recognises the UK is short of workers?

Immigration has largely remained the same since pre-Brexit, it is just that they are now coming from non-EU countries. 

Patel spending £140M on 100 places in Rwanda (which is a reciprocal agreement, if the plane with 7 people had taken off it would have returned with 68 people from Rwanda who pose complex re-settlement problems) is just an example of the government gas-lighting the UK voters. They want you to believe they care about the things you care about- they don't.

One of my favourite Brexiteer idiots has done it again! Ben Habib has 'floated' a deceptively ignorant solution to the problem of Channel-crossing illegal migrants - have them all picked out of the water by Rwandan-flagged boats and shipped directly to Rwanda. 

 

PS - There are no Rwandan-flagged boats capable of picking anybody up. And, if there were, they would have to cross at least 1000 miles of Africa territory to get to Rwanda.

But Habib – the richest MEP elected to the European Parliament in the 2019 elections according to earnings from second jobs – wasn’t done.

The route from Dover to Mombasa, on Kenya’s coast, is anything but direct.

A ship would have to sail around the length of Africa and pass the Cape of Good Hope before returning north, or sail past Gibraltar and along the Mediterranean, before passing through the Suez Canal and along the coast of Somalia to Kenya.

To call it impractical seems too generous. But then, the Rwanda plan was never about practicalities.

The people who shout loudest in support of will be the same people moaning they couldn't get served in a hotel, that food prices are soaring and the supermarket shelves are empty, all because we have a chronic shortage of seasonal workers and longer term labourers - jobs which could be filled just as well by Africans and Asians as Europeans (except, of course, they have the wrong colour skin so we don't want them here, do we?!!!)

We should be flying them in, not out!

Love it when people moan about "immigrants taking our jobs" but since loads of immigrants have left the UK, those lazy b******* who still havent got a job are now saying "ye but the job is rubbish". Its funny, see in the UK nothing is ever our fault but someone elses, hence the EU getting blamed for a lot of things.

Again you conflate illegal migrants with legal migrants. Nobody complains about legal migrants. Legal migrants are more than welcome to move here and work, the people that are coming across the channel in dinghys by the thousands are predominantly economic migrants fleeing from the many safe European countries they have already past through to get here. And why do you alway try to turn it into a race issue? At present the taxpayer is picking up the tab of 1.5 million per day and as they're the one paying the bill shouldn't they get a say in what happens. Its not about race its about economics and finite resources.

Since we cannot attract sufficient legal migrants, why not accept those who, for whatever reason, have been unable to negotiate the hurdles needed to migrate here legally, but who - in most cases - would be only too happy to do the menial jobs no-one in Britain will do (because they are too busy complaining that such jobs aren't being done) if it meant they could then stay long term.   It would cost us a lot less than chartering airliners to fly them to Africa.   And might mean we have at least some food on our shelves come autumn (when I think a lot of folk could be in for a big shock).
