Exploration might product intersting results for one. It is improbably but not necessarily impossible for life to have existed on mars. Colonization is possible, though complicated. Why spend money on it? Why not.

There is nothing interesting there, whether there was life or not, and what it was, it is impossible to establish due to the absence of any buildings, there is nothing there besides sand and rocks, water in a bound state. If there was a possibility of life, then nature would be at least weeds it produced there, but there is nothing vegetable there. The core of the planet is inactive, and this is the heart of the planet. Mars is almost dead or in a deep lethargic sleep.Mars is not located in the belt of life. From predictions about the future, it is known that people will try to populate Mars, but by the end of human times, it will remain deserted. It is not rocket technology that needs to fly to other planets.

Mars, of course, also fulfills its goals unknown to us, but it is not suitable for settlement where a person could cultivate fields in the midst of nature and self-serve himself. Even Elon Musk prefers to buy a twitter that can be skillfully manipulated and make money rather than spending money on a rocket to Mars.

Earth at one point was nothing but sand and rocks and look at you on your phone/computer giving out dumb opinions lol. Humanity loves a challenge, especially Musk, and to see humanity live on a dead planet would be a testament of our innovation and greatness.

I'm betting you're someone who thinks if you blew 100k on student loans for a liberal arts degree that you deserve to have that loan forgiven lol. All student loans should be forgiven. They're are a predatory scam and the entire system as it stands needs to be killed.

You can not wait for a flight to Mars, but already now inhabit places with extreme conditions. I have found three places for you: The North Pole, the Sahara desert and the mountains in Greenland. Equipped with all modern science, you and your friends will be able to populate them as the first settlers of America and create the entire infrastructure of civilization. This is a challenge for you and for science, so take your hiking backpacks and go for it: Spoiler Edited May 1, 2022 by Coil
