Texas GOP Declares Biden Illegitimate, Demands End to Abortion

Texas Republicans acted on multiple resolutions and platform changes at their state convention this weekend—including declaring that President Joe Bidenwas "not legitimately elected" and demanding an end to abortion.

The Texas GOP's convention in Houstonreinforced how many remain fixated on former president Donald Trump's baseless claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election—even after the House panel investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol presented evidence that those claims were false and showed testimony from Trump's closest advisers saying they did not believe them during televised hearings.

Earlier this week, the party's Permanent 2022 Platform & Resolutions Committee advanced a resolution claiming the 2020 election had violated the Constitution.

Meh… are we supposed to pretend to be outraged by this after being told Trump was an illegitimate president for 4 solid years ? After being told the only way Trump could win again would be by illegitimate means?

Texans hve always been  "Fair Weather"  citizens.  They constantlly talk of ceding from the union and have had more flags over them than other states.  So this type of discourse is normal.

I remember hearing something about Proud Boys attacking Dan Crenshaw there.  But then again I have heard posters here say there is no connection between Republican leadership and the Proud Boys- especially regarding Jan.6 so they would never be welcome at the convention..

Yeah, Texas Republicans officially saying that the Republican platform supports the big lie and would of supported overturning millions of voters. Which suggests that they would also try to overturn your vote in the future...

But have you heard that Biden, I mean Brandon, fell off a bicycle :o

Texas also added the existing new platform statement of homosexuals being a "abnormal lifestyle choice".

Nonething to see there

Now you are in favor of building a “racist” wall between the US and Mexico?

Texas really is a different place isn’t it? I wonder if there will come a time when a strong, patriotic, open minded leader will step out from the mass of imbeciles, cowards, and nut jobs currently dominating our country? Wouldn’t that be a breath of fresh air. I know that there are many who didn’t like Reagan but a guy like him is what The USA needs.

EMM, may I suggest that the reasons why these repubs say "Joe Biden was 'not legitimately elected'" is to anger the dems, really tic them off?
It's called tit for tat. Dems say for 4 years running that Trump was not legitimately elected because he conspired with Russians. Jeeeezus.

So enjoy it.

When the result of such rhetoric is the likes of Jan 6th and the plot to murder the governor of Michigan, I'd say it's mighty dangerous to spew such seditious crap. Or can you honestly not see the road the US is now travelling?

The US is still suffering the effects of Regan (and the UK, Thatcher). Going by inflation and cost of living, the US minimum wage, to match the 70s, should be somewhere between $25-$30 per hour. It's about a quarter of that in most places. And that's largely down to Regan.

A strong leader is all fine and well, but you'll find that people buy into anything they say. Trickle-down economics?

What you really need is another FDR. Or even an Eisenhower to bridge the gap. Bernie could give you a shot, but the corporate media has spent too long slating him as an extremist for it to happen. That's a magic trick of epic proportions.

We should give Oklahoma back to the Indians.  The tribes are doing a better job of governing than our governor/legislature is.

They did it because it's what alot of their voters actually believe.

Same as "homosexuality is a adnormal lifestyle choices" that was changed to the platform. Like it would seem inaccurate to state that's added because they want to p the Dems off and not because there is a strong religious element that actually feels that way.

Isn't that kinda like saying they want to be publicly as dumb as the dumbest of Democrats?

Bernie is an complete dope. For years he railed against the evil “1%”. Then Someone who actually knows what numbers mean pointed out that The Bern was part of the 1%. Unfazed the Bern just switched to scapegoating “billionaires”.

He got rich in our capitalist free market living off the tax payers and blubbering about how great socialism is.

I think it’s more likely that some people are just tired of having LGBT constantly pushed in their face.

I disagree with it being an “abnormal choice” but then I have to pretend like it’s normal for a fat guy to dance down the street with his genitalia exposed to children? Or that it’s normal for people to take their kids to a sexualized performance by a drag queen? Or that it’s normal for “teachers” to explore the sexuality of their students?

Let them cede then give Mexico weapon systems to invade them.

Being Lenape I'm not a big fan of the CNO but they know how to run a tribe. The Osages do good things too.

Not sure what Bernie has to do with anything or why you're telling me about him. I never liked the guy.

No. You're defending it because you don't want to believe that a portion of conservatives don't accept gay people. I've spoken with these parent in person many time through my work with youth.

There are a bit of religious parents who legitimately believe that being gay is a choice. And they prefer to see it that way because if it's a choice than it's something I can tell my daughter to stop doing. She's just choosing to make bad decisions. Not that she is just gay.  Parents and society being like that is harmful to gay people.

It's a conversation we should be way past as a nation. And most people are, which is why I find it embarrassing that the Texas Republicans are so far behind.

Someone commented about The Bern earlier, that part of my comment was not in response to you.

Like I said, I disagree with homosexuality being an “abnormal choice”. However, putting on leather chaps and painting your buttocks like a rainbow then going out in public is a choice. It’s also a choice to sexualize the children in your classroom. It’s the left who won’t make a distinction between someone just being gay and someone throwing dollar bills at a “trans” kids who is doing a sexualized dance, It’s the left who lumps homosexuality in with any degree of degenerate behavior as long as it’s vaguely associated with being “gay”.

Sexualizing children is a conversation we should be past in this nation,

Dear God dude.

This is all you need to say.

Because that's what was added to the platform. That homosexuality is a "adnormal lifestyle choice".

Idk why you're trying to air out all your trans issues again.

If you don't defend the platform stance then leave it at that, otherwise it just looks like you're just trying to defend it .

I can’t figure out where his come from, it’s a very dark place and it’s sad that someone can assemble those images in their mind.

This is very sick, I am going to move along this is something I don’t even want to consider much less hear about!

Good Luck my friend I am out of here!

Maybe I just lead a sheltered life, but I have never seen any of this.  Where the hell are you getting your information?

Probably outrage media. Where they pick the most extreme situations across the country to try to generalize entire groups.

It's a polarization problem.

I had already stated that.

You are missing the point. Are we really supposed to be outraged by the wording of a platform stance while our children are being taught in school how to “tuck” their genitals? You think you can do whatever you want and then keep getting your way by pretending to be outraged and offended by words in a document? I don’t agree with the words but I also don’t care about them, not even a little, The same people crying about those words have called me a terrorist for wanting a say in what my child learns in public school.
