Disgraced human rights lawyer Phil Shiner faces fraud charges over Iraq War abuse claims

Recommended Posts

Phil Shiner, the former human rights lawyer, is facing fraud charges linked to claims made against Iraq War veterans.

The ex-boss of the now-defunct Public Interest Lawyers was struck off by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in 2017 for pursuing false torture and murder allegations against British troops.

Mr Shiner, 65, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday to face three counts of fraud following a five-year investigation by the National Crime Agency.
