Met Police is placed in SPECIAL MEASURES

The Metropolitan Police was today dramatically placed in special measures for the first time ever due to concerns about 'serious or critical shortcomings' following a wave of scandals that blighted Cressida Dick's tenure.

Acting commissioner Sir Stephen House will now be required to work with London Mayor Sadiq Khan to produce a remedial plan which the police inspectorate will assess.

Top officers will then be required to meet regularly with Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services to ensure the required improvements are being made.

A letter from HMICFRS cited numerous fiascos at Britain's largest force, including the murder of Sarah Everard by serving officer Wayne Couzens, the 'racially profiled' stop and search of the Team GB sprinter Bianca Williams, and the strip-search of a 15-year-old black schoolgirl known as Child Q.

The panel heard that PC Jeer posted an image of a young boy in a hoodie captioned as a “monkey in the jungle” and superimposed with an image of a penis.

Vishal Misra quizzed PC Jeer about a meme that showed the image of a “golliwog” toy that was captioned: “A sneak preview at Meghan's wedding dress.”

The golliwog is a black fictional character, characterised by black skin, eyes rimmed in white, big red lips and frizzy hair.

Six police forces in England are under special measures, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) said.

The Metropolitan Police, the UK's largest police force, was placed under special measures this week after a series of failures.

The watchdog said there are now six police forces in special measures.

The forces are the Met, Greater Manchester, Cleveland, Gloucestershire, Staffordshire and Wiltshire.

Inspectors have raised "systemic concerns" about the Met, including its substandard response to emergency calls, "barely adequate" crime recording and a backlog of child abuse referrals.

We’ve lost the open police stations as well, they are still there but closed to the public.

As a kid we used to pop into the station and do a snack run to the corner shop for them, we would always get a quid to buy ourselves some sweets.

The police have lost community support
