Boris Johnson resigns as UK prime minister

Boris Johnson is out.

After a dizzying few days of fresh scandals and mass cabinet resignations, the British Prime Minister announced his resignation on Thursday, marking the close of his current leadership of the Conservative Party nearly three years after he took on the job.

As prime minister, he officially took the United Kingdom out of the European Union after years of a divisive Brexit debate, and he led the Conservatives to a historic general election victory in 2019. But Johnson could not overcome the latest revolt from his Conservative Party. The scale of the discontent over a slew of scandals alongside an inflation crisis and poor election results proved insurmountable for Johnson.

Johnson, in his resignation speech, indicated he will stay on as prime minister until a successor is chosen, a process that will likely conclude sometime in the late summer or early autumn. But some Conservatives see Johnson as too much of a political liability to stick around, even for a few weeks, and want him gone, immediately.

Hmmmm, perhaps Boris can get into acting next. Bond or Who villain perhaps? Maybe he could be in a Marvel or Pixar movie. Just throwing it out there that he could buck the trend of actor to politician like Ronald Reagan, even Arnold Schwarzenegger went from actor to politician to actor again. Let me know what you think.

The debate at the moment is that he hasn't resigned. He didn't mention it directly in his "resignation speech" which was full of hot air talking of his "popular mandate", he is having a party at Chequers in a couple of weeks with Carrie, and he is talking of forming a new cabinet. Senior Tories are still trying to find a way to get rid of him:When will Boris Johnson go? How long the Tory leadership election could take and why he's not leaving yet (inews.co.uk)

£240,000 payout for ministers who quit or were axed during Boris Johnson coup

Britain’s shortest serving Cabinet minister is in line for a severance payment of almost £17,000 after spending just 35 hours in the job as Education Secretary.

Michelle Donelan, who resigned after only one full day in the role, has asked not to receive the cash and will give the entire amount to charity if she does.

She is one of 28 former ministers who quit or were sacked in the coup against Boris Johnson and are set to earn a combined £240,000 in redundancy money.

Unprecedented events in British history. Given his character and the nature of his pre-political career, how could anyone think it could have ended any other way! Such a shambolic ignoble spectacle and, true to form, it's all about him and his lack of integrity.

Hmmm, I wonder if I pay for the square foot of land in Scotland, become a lord by right of land ownership, would I be eligible for the position of Prime Minister?

A wax figure of now-former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has appeared outside a job seeker's centre following his resignation from the top job.

The 58-year-old revealed he will step down as the leader of the Conservative Party and the country following weeks of scandal and controversy.

And now, a fake Boris Johnson has been seen outside of a Jobcentre Plus in Lancashire to really rub it in.

The problem with Boris is that he thought his untruths , were the truth , and his antics were not that of a Prime Minister , but he did manage to get this Country out of the hell of the E.U. and being led by France and Germany .

What have you personally most enjoyed since Jan 2021? Or put in another way, what would you most hate to give up that you can now enjoy, if we were forced to re-join the "hell of the EU"?  Don't worry, it is completely hypothetical, we couldn't re-join even if the EU agreed to have us back, but I would be interested in your response.
