Still Waters Posted July 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2022 A woman driving a rental car pulled over to investigate a strange smell and discovered a dead body in the boot. The shocking incident happened in the small quiet village of Mullinavat in County Kilkenny, near the border with Waterford, on Monday. It’s believed the man who was found dead in the boot of the car was the person who had rented the car immediately before the customer who found the body. The woman who had the distressing experience of unexpectedly finding a corpse in the car she had rented is a local woman from the area in her 20s. The dead man was 40 years old and from Waterford and there had been a Garda appeal for his whereabouts. https://www.buzz.ie/news/irish-news/irish-woman-driving-rental-car-27557660

+susieice Posted July 24, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2022 You would think the car would be checked before being rented out again. If the victim was the last person to rent the car, who put him in the trunk?

Hi Susieice Maybe a disgruntled car rental employee and buddy ended up in the boot for being difficult.
+and-then Posted July 25, 2022 #10 Share Posted July 25, 2022 When my wife was in her Pathology Residency she was required to perform 30 autopsies prior to taking her final exams for certification. One of the last was of a murder victim who'd been shot and hidden in the trunk of a car in summer. It was the only one she ever complained about. That vehicle was left parked in the most distant part of the parking area and they still couldn't avoid the odor

The service allows you to rent cars for as little as an hour, using a booking system to reserve the vehicle and in-car technology to unlock the car and drive. Sounds to me like the car is dropped of at a spot and the next renter picks it up from there rather than returning it to a rental lot with employees ready to service it. Still a lot of unanswered questions though.
