"Those worried about the possibility of scientists creating synthetic creatures using this technique, however, need not worry as the embryos do not have the capacity to grow into actual animals."

Yet.

"There are also no plans at present to create synthetic human embryos."

Yet.

I can imagine fanatical religious types going ape ****, so research should continue:yes: :tu:

Its human nature in that if we don't kill ourselves first that we will transcend evolution

I would have put the horror emoji for that OP but there isn't one.  This is the beginning of a very slippery slope, and if they are announcing it there are black projects already training cloned children for something that will get completely out of hand.   That show calle The Eleventh Hour is about this kind of thing and how a sting of death could be the outcome of this.  If they want a viable experiment, women will have to be used and if it is secret those women's lives will not be worth much after they produce the clone or what ever.

This will be more likely to kill us faster than to transcend evolution.   People get greedy and impatient and skip steps.   The whole grey alien story revolves around that, they want our DNA because they ruined theirs with cloning and trying to keep bodies alive longer than they should have.

That's funny.   There was a television show called Dig that had the religious zealots in the U.S. cloning some boy they thought would be the new messiah that would trigger the rapture and tribulation.   When one clone was killed they had another ready to take his place.

Eh. Its pretty much just the Greek myths version of Eve Apple.

The message being that curiosity is bad lol.

A dumb message in my opinion.
