Eldorado Posted August 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2022 A US Coast Guard cutter was unable to get clearance for a scheduled port call in the Solomon Islands as concerns grow about China's influence on the Pacific nation. The vessel, called the Oliver Henry, was conducting patrols as part of an international mission to prevent illegal fishing when it sought to make a stop to refuel on the island of Guadalcanal, according to the Stars and Stripes newspaper. -- The Royal Navy did not comment directly on reports that HMS Spey, also taking part in the mission, was also denied a port call in the Solomon Islands. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/us-vessel-barred-from-solomon-islands-as-china-extends-influence/ar-AA11a2Ov 2 Top
