Still Waters Posted September 21, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2022 More than 200 whales have been found stranded on a remote beach on the west coast of Tasmania, Australia. Half of the pod, thought to be pilot whales, are believed to be still alive. Rescuers are being sent to the area. It's unclear what caused the whales to beach on a sandflat at the entrance to Macquarie Harbour, the same remote location where Australia's worst stranding occurred two years ago. +ouija ouija Posted September 21, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2022 It's not at all 'unclear' what causes the whales to beach . . . . it's sonar. This has been known for years. A similar, although smaller, incident happened near here some years back now, affecting dolphins. There was an inquiry because of public outcry, which went on for years . . . . hoping people would forget about it, no doubt. It was laughable the explanations they came up with until eventually having to admit that it was sonar which had disrupted the dolphins' sense of navigation. 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
