Iran police battle protesters in Tehran as unrest over woman's death spirals

Iran has executed four men accused of working with Israel's intelligence service, Iranian state media reported.

The sentences for "intelligence cooperation" with Israel and "kidnapping" were carried out on Sunday, the Mizan news agency said.

Iran's Supreme Court had upheld death penalties against them on Wednesday following their arrest in May.

The executions come at a time of heightened tensions in Iran after more than two months of protests.

Three other people were sentenced to between five and 10 years in prison for crimes against the country's security, complicity in kidnapping and possession of weapons, the judiciary's website said.

Looks like there is a bit of good news for Iranians but I stil don't trust the regime. Apparently the Morality Police is being disbanded. This could be a sign of fear on the ayatolahs part, I hope.

Yeah, Odas, the regime says it has disbanded the Morality Police but the people barely flinched on that news because they don't believe the regime.

There is no reason to believe the ayatolahs. They are buying time with lies and propaganda. I trust the Iranian people will not fall for it.

Apparently, the U.S. administration must disagree with your assessment.  They are still bending over backward, trying to make a deal over the ayatollah's nuclear weapons drive.  In spite of everything these thugs have done to their own people and the obvious use of their resources to arm, train, and support proxies all over the middle east, STILL, the Biden admin - whoever is actually making the decisions - are hell-bent on assisting Iran to become the regional hegemon.  Considering the open threats and promises of a desire to destroy Israel, this course of action can lead to only one outcome.  Who does it benefit?  Between the unlimited support of the Ukraine war and this policy with Iran, these people really do seem to desire to drag America into a major war.

and-then, the people with the power and persuasion to drag America into war are the Israelis and I fear it will happen.

That was a stunning move to have US military airships land in Israel. Something big is in the pipeline.

Dozens’ of Iranians executed for anti-regime protests

Good points from this resistence Councellor.  From 5:28, 3 valid points on what countries in the world can do to assist the Iranians who after 84 days of unrest and hundreds of dead civilians are refusing to give in to this evil regime until it's overthrown.  Their grip onto power has become almost futile and hopeless because resistence is only going to increase as they keep executing and murdering. The only ones that haven't worked it out yet are the power hungry bearded buffoons who claim they represent God on Earth.

If they actually worked for Israel they likely wouldn't have been caught.  Do the Mullahs actually think executing people will save them at this point?

If they had that power don't you think it would have happened while Trump was in office?  As for the military cooperation, it was intended to send a message but Iran is no longer worried about such messages.  They're killing hundreds (maybe thousands) of their own citizens and are funding, training, and using proxies all over the ME.  Just imagine what they'll do when they know they have a nuclear umbrella.

Had the allies attacked Germany pre-emptively when Hitler began invading his neighbors, millions of lives might have been saved.  I really believe we're in the same part of that historic cycle of tyranny again, this time with Iran and the CCP, and Russia.  The danger these days seem to be unveiling themselves not as Russia using nukes, but the west losing all respect for Putin and his military.  Once they feel they can press for more in this current war do you expect NATO and the U.S. to walk away from such an advantage?  I think the world is on a precipice and everyone is taking a deep breath before the plunge.  THIS war will be like no other.  There will be nukes flying in many directions before it ends. :(

Excellent point, that.

It could be as you say and that is fearful. Nuclear... No one wins.
In WWII you had Germany, Italy and Japan. Here, you would see Russia, China, Iran.

And the absolute WORST aspect of it all is that it will be about pride, greed and arrogance...IOW, totally avoidable if the leaders were honorable.

Actually that is very unfair.  The US push has always been to get Iran to adopt Thorium Nuclear reactors.  It is completely impossible for Thorium reactors to produce weaponizable material.  Obviously Iran is double dealing and is desperately trying to produce nuclear weapons, but the Thorium ploy makes that process a lot more difficult, as their given lie is that their program is for civilian use, and Thorium reactors shut that excuse down handily.  Added to this is a series of sabotage attacks on the Iranian non-Thorium plants that have been quite successful to date.  You see, the US play is more nuanced than you suspect.  Of course when the Mullahs' regime collapses next year this will all be academic anyhow.

Except that Russia is having to rebuild their nuclear arsenal from the ground up because of corruption and neglect of maintenance.  Orcs don't do maintenance and spent that budget on drink, drugs and hookers.

The mullahs will do WHATEVER is necessary to save themselves.  They've already killed hundreds, at a minimum.  They've begun hanging protesters publicly.  They will become as bloody as they want to and who is going to stop them?

The mullahs days are numbered.  The only other time I've witnessed a similar uprise is when the Iron Curtain was torn down.  Even there things started a few years earlier with students and workers protesting until the system cracked in '89.  It's not that everything transitioned smoothly from strict Communist regimes into Democracies.  For example approximately a thousand died in Romania by the Security Police because Ceasescu wouldn't relent power and thought he could overpower people's will with intimidation.  He paid for it with his life in the end and Khamenei better watch out because he's running quickly towards a similar fate.

In an attempt to pacify the mob the Iranian regime has now promised to disband the Morality Police and change their stance on women's dress codes but it won't change a thing.  Like the Eastern Europeans, Iranians want freedom and democracy and the murders and executions are just a futile delay towards the inevitable

The civilian population have already crossed the threshold of no return.  They outnumber the mullahs.  The mullahs cannot dissolve the public and elect a new public. The only thing keeping the mullahs in power is the revolutionary guard, and they too are very vulnerable.

As much as I hope you are correct, I just don't see an Islamic theocracy ever standing down on its "revolution".  Spreading that Islamic revolution to the rest of the world has been their raison d`etre for more than 40 years and I fear they will kill thousands, even tens of thousands rather than relinquish the wealth and power they've accrued.

  • 5 weeks later...

In the mean time the Iranian regime keeps on executing people and unfortunately it has had some effect on protests.  The video gives a general idea on how things currently stand.

The lady in the end makes a good point.  The regime has blocked the population from internet access so they can't organise protests, obtain information, provide information etc. and yet members of the regime have Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Accounts.  Crazy

Western Govts need to do more to help these people who are striving for Democracy and Freedom!!

How many protesters on death row have to be tortured, raped and killed before the West takes decisive Diplomatic measures???
