Special master asks Trump team for ‘the beef’ behind privilege claims

The special master appointed to review the documents former President Trump stored at his Florida home expressed hesitation during a Tuesday conference that they should be shielded from Justice Department investigators.

Judge Raymond Dearie asked attorneys for Trump to offer up more details about why an initial batch of documents already set aside by the Justice Department would be subject to privilege.

“It’s a little perplexing as I go through the log,” Dearie said. “What’s the expression — ‘Where’s the beef?’ I need some beef.”

Its crazy. OJ had a far better legal team than Trump.

It speaks to his veracity (or lack) and his financial situation (or perhaps his refusal to pay his bills)   OJ had lots of money and must have paid his attorneys, he wasn't a professional con artist.

From the article:
“a detail known only after a court filing was accidentally briefly unsealed before being removed from the public docket.“

“Accidentally” unsealed.

(Insert rolling eyes emoji)

SOCIALISM!   Scared you didn't I?

One of the things I do observe is that socialism, or the fear of it  seems to be the primary anesthesia used by the elites.  Distract people with the fear of socialism while the elites suck the middle class dry of all resources.  Give them something to be afraid of  or hook them on drugs so they don't ask where all of their jobs have gone.

Take a look at the eastern part of our country, Appalachia  and the Rust Belt.  Here there are people that have worked as hard as anybody ever has, led good lives, and gone to church on Sunday. They mined the coal, cut the lumber, and worked in the mills  that made America the economic miracle it has become.

In one breath, politicians call them salt of the earth and in the next say  that we could not possibly give them a bigger share of the wealth they create, it belongs to the elites. .  Medical care or cheaper drugs is socialism.  We can't do that.  Think a man would work less hard if his kids could go to a doctor or afford prescriptions?

MAGA people are no different than mainstream Democrats or Republicans; suck ups and hatchet men for the elites to keep people in line.

The only comment I can really make is if they implement a Euro style healthcare system get ready to have your take home income halved and your property taxes up by 1/3 minimum.  It would double both the governments budget and their control over what used to be choices you made.  Some people don't seem to mind that prospect.

Edit: What will differ in our system is doctors and hospitals will make record profits, just like insurance companies every time the government sticks their noses in it.

I agree with the Judge. Executive privilege claims mean they are still U.S Property and he illegally has them.

Attorney client privilege means they are privileged, and the Lawyers had no right or security clearance to even view them, unless of course they can prove thery have been declassified. And we know the answer to that one.

Either way, Trump is screwed unless Judge Cannon or other biased Judges get their hands on this case.

I think his strategy has merit.  Delay and obsfucate until either he or a crony gets the presidency and then give himself/recieve a pardon.

Yep, I see the problem.  SOCIALISM!  Our hands are  tied and our system is the best it can be for us and the people we work for.  No creative alternatives, wouldn't want to shake up the structure.  I do agree it is a problem.  If the people standing neck deep in the swamp decide they don't get enough benefit from holding the system up, someday they might decide just to drop it and walk away.  They may not even follow the path they did in France back in 1786, or in Russia in 1917.   How that would shape up, I can't imagine, but I suspect there are a lot of opportunities for charismatic and deceptive leaders to manipulate them.  Then today's dilemma will seem small.

I'm just saying the way our government works what I typed is the most likely outcome were we to move to a so called single payer system.  If you're good with that then that's fine with me. Personally our current system has served me well since I first joined the work force full time in '83.

I know, I get you. You and I have been served well, although some might consider us servants of the elite.  Maybe something different is in order.

Tax reform to help clean out corruption might be good.  We know we need some new rules for Congress to get rid of the insider trading and such.  At the same time we handle that, I suggest a return to Eisenhower-like tax rates; a higher base rate for corporations with generous  tax breaks for behaviors we want to encourage.  No breaks for stock repurchase or foreign investment but big ones for domestic R&D, expansion, and profit sharing.   Maybe incentives for hospital corporations to start basic clinics in small towns with no health care. Maybe even business tax incentives to start small businesses in underserved towns.  Maybe we target small and family businesses under 100 employees for some breaks.  Maybe something akin to job corps to train young people in new technologies.  Paid tuition for medical students who agree to serve 4 years in an underserved area.   We go pre-Reagan and stop taxing social security to give a bigger break to the so-called job creators.

The first thing people seem to do is throw up their hands and object to giving people that don't work free stuff, welfare.  I am not suggesting that.  I am suggesting a little more assistance,  for people that do work really hard but seem to have very little leverage.  It doesn't even have to be a money handout  You are a better student of economics than I am,  you might have some better ideas.

The bigger problem I see is social.  People with qualities we say we admire, honesty, integrity, a strong work ethic, and for some a strong religious belief are relegated to the bottom rungs of society.  People who have qualities we say we do not admire; avarice, selfishness, and duplicity we allow to be elevated to the highest positions of power, luxury, and in some cases admiration.

A system always gets more of what they reward.   That doesn't bode well for us.

I am putting that in my monthly letter to my representatives.    They are so out of touch and will never consider us and what we need unless we tell them.  You should email it to your representatives too, the more they get this mentioned the more likely it will become a talking point at election time, then eventually if we don't let up, it could be drafted and voted on.

Well the appeals court just struck down the special master.  Special master: Appeals court halts review of Trump documents seized at Mar-a-Lago | CNN Politics

They had two big arguments against it:

1) “The law is clear,” the appeals court wrote. “We cannot write a rule that allows any subject of a search warrant to block government investigations after the execution of the warrant.

2) Nor can we write a rule that allows only former presidents to do so.”
