How 'a bit of fun turned into a nightmare' for mum who visited fortune teller

A Sydney fortune teller has swindled a single mum out of more than $22,000 (£12,200) in a scam that saw her life savings depleted.

Poonam, who asked to have her surname withheld, was approached by 'psychic' Pandit Valmiki Krishna's colleagues.

They coaxed her into a small fortune-telling shop down an old laneway in Liverpool, western Sydney.

But, what she thought would be a bit of a laugh ended up turning into a nightmare for the newly single mum.

The 'psychic' told her she was cursed and her children were in grave danger.

Happened to someone in my neighborhood growing up. Woman’s husband died and the fortune teller told the woman that the money the husband left her was cursed and that she, the fortune teller would cleanse it. The neighbor lady withdrew a large sum of cash (over $20,000) and gave it to the fortune teller expecting it to be returned after she cleansed it but she (and the money) was never seen again.

Wow!   That still works?   I have met people who fell for that in the 80's and it was very expensive schooling back then, but 22,000.00 !   OMG!

It makes you just want to respond with "Baaaaaa aaaaa!" when people tell those stories on themselves.
