Some of Trump's longtime allies are refusing to back Donald Trump for nomination in 2024.

But in the run up to the date, and in the wake of the Republican Party's dismal showing in the midterm elections, even some of the president's staunchest allies are sounding less than enthusiastic about the prospect. When asked by Politico on Monday if he would endorse a Trump 2024 presidential bid, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina declined too. It would be a bad mistake for the Republicans to have Donald Trump as their nominee in 2024," said Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama, previously a close congressional ally of Trump, when speaking to Al.com over the weekend.

Donald Trump has proven himself to be dishonest, disloyal, incompetent, crude and a lot of other things that alienate so many independents and Republicans. Even a candidate who campaigns from his basement can beat him. The question is: who is the current leader of the Republican Party? Oh, I know who it is: Ron DeSantis," Sen. Cynthia Lummis, a Wyoming Republican told Politico. "Ron DeSantis is the leader of the Republican Party, whether he wants to be or not.

They have been afraid to distance themselves from trump because of his immense public support.    [Morons for *Trump*].  But you can ride a dying horses @**  only so far.  The man deserves ZERO support.

See what has happened? Many in the GOP were afraid to open their mouths against Trump because he would "primary them" and such. Now the mid-term voters have spoken and many in the GOP are now afraid of the voters and are rejecting Trump. And this isn't a handful of party members either, but at least two dozen from what I have seen, and they are begging Trump not to announce until after the Georgia runoff, but Trump is going ahead full power. Should the GOP lose Georgia, watch his support drastically drop. Even Lindsay Graham said he would not comment on whether or not he would endorse Trump until after that runoff, and that is telling. If the Georgia runoff goes to the Democrat, then Lindsay Graham probably won't support Trump.

Trump wants to blame poor performance on McConnell but here is where the blame should go, and for the 140,000 that left the GOP party, how many didn't leave but will refuse to vote for Trump? And this is old data.

Thousands of Republicans Leave the Party, Registration Data Shows (people.com)

The January registration data indicates that in the weeks since the attempted coup, "nearly 140,000 Republicans had quit the party in 25 states that had readily available data," the Times reported on Wednesday.

The problem is that that support is not  immense, it is just loud and scary.   They have distanced themselves except for those in the south who used him to get elected in the primaries.

So what, they rejected him at the beginning of his 2015 bid, and he won.

He’s got a grip on the Republican base, like an alligator snapping turtle. It will take a bolt of lightning to Trump’s shell, to make him let go. He’s planning to fleece his followers out of billions.

It won't do him any good if he can't get that party eligible to be on the ballot in all 50 states.  Maybe he could throw in with the Libertarians (if they would have him, which I doubt).

Is "burn it down, baby" just a different way of predicting and supporting more BOM tantrums and comedy like he pulled in 2020 when he lost bigly?

How much $$$ will you send the millionaire to fund his 2024 run?

No, he doesnt have the GOP base BOM has a grip on a little clique of his worshippers who do blindly bend a knee but after his comedy and tantrums when he lost 2020 he also lost a lot of that head bowed clique.

And the GOP has been over him for a long time, his costing the GOP mids isnt going down well, red wave?? no, a dribble. look how pence said there are better options than trump, and Desanctimonious as trump calls him would slaughter trump in debates and running.

You need to keep up.

Ok.  It will divide the Republican party 70%-30%  or 60%-40% maybe. He will take a majority but it is a smaller number than Republicans currently have.

You must be expecting a Pure Trump party to achieve its goals by violence and suppression then I take it because there is no way they will get there by popular vote.

You meant Billionaire, as in someone who hasn't paid any taxes on 10 of 15 years' worth of tax returns. So please people keep sending your money to this con man.

All that will do is make Democrats winners forever, because he may have gotten party votes, but I doubt the entire GOP voter base will follow him.

One of us is confused about the term "Liberal", lately it has been used for those who think the government should wipe our butts.   The libertarians are the opposite, they want the government to step back and leave us alone.   Like in the early 1800's.

The more I think about that, the better I think that idea is.  It takes a lot of work to get a new party on the ballot in all 50 states and it would prove who actually supports him based on which states he can get enough signatures to create that new party.     It would keep him busy for more than the 1 1/2 years he has to get on the ballot and campaign before the primaries start.

He'll be too busy with legal problems.

I didn't say he would be doing all the work, he doesn't do that.   I said it would prove what kind of support he actually has.

Do you honestly believe Republicans are going to refuse him the nomination when he has the largest following of any Republican candidate?  I have no doubt the RINO wing would be willing, but they also recognize he'd have the power to burn THEM down...   As I've already said a couple of times... 2022 midterms - the results of which many here are crowing over - has had other effects that the RINOs are only now being able to see and fear.

They've been so focused on keeping him out of power that they managed to humiliate themselves and give evidence that even with horrific crime levels and inflation fueled economic displacements that are only predicted to worse next year, they STILL COULDN'T produce the wins they should have had.  Like I said... BURN IT DOWN ;)  If the RINO kneelers in congress decide to run DeSantis, they WILL lose in '24.  What comes next is another 4 years of American collapse on all fronts.  Anyone who still votes for Dems, they are partially culpable for the suffering that their policies will bring to us all.

If your party is not in power, you do not want unity. And when your party was in power, there was no unity. Let go of the hate man.

Your hate blinds you.

Its telling how you guys attack anyone who doesnt bend a knee, "rino" how cute and clever, a nice name for those who dont worship at your alter, come on, stop hating.

I do believe its possible but highly unlikely GOP might be stupid enough to back your BOM again but i doubt it because they know hes the albertrose around their necks and will cost them their party.

2020 didnt clue you in? Face it there were no frauds besides the ones BOM failed to pull off he lost 2020 fair and square because the America people were done with him not because they wanted biden.

Enter desanctimonious he is trump just more refined, couth, far less about himself first than trump hes a hot ticket right now and could take 2024 for the GOP so will GOP again back a multi loser trump, i am not sure.

No I do not. I believe that he will get the nomination.  Lindsey Graham is already behind him again.

Republicans have no fixes for any of the problems we are having so it will not be by logic that he wins.

When late 23 gets here, people need to remind Trump he said there would be no America left by 24. It was all fearmongering by Trump creating boogey men, and 2024 is 12 1/2 months away and America is going along strong and shouldn't just collapse in a year.
