I'd argue the only logical interpretation is the American way of life. When Trump says that illegal immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country", he means that their way of life is being imported into your country - with all of the problems that this brings. Bring enough Africans (for example) and America is no longer America but Africa-lite, with all of the problems that Africa has! When the American way of life is gone, the blood of your country has been irrevocably "poisoned". The American way of life was a talking point with the rise of the middle class after WWII. A working man could afford a home and have realistic dreams of his children being better off than he was. Mom could stay home and be there when the kids got home from school. That is gone. Now both parents work full time or more and are barely hanging on. They may not even be able to afford a home and certainly their kids will be worse off yet. The fading American dream for middle class consumers depends on an underclass of the cheapest labor possible to flip those burgers, clean the toilets, pick the fruit, and empty the bedpans to make them affordable for the middle class. But we have to despise them and guarantee that they will never be able to be middle class or we would lose our cheap labor. We cannot rise up by beating other people down. 4

The video also spoke about the Battle of Hoth and called him "Incest Luke" for kissing his sister, said that Gandalf "slept in" at the Battle of Helm's Deep, a place owned by Bob Helm..... But we have to despise them and guarantee that they will never be able to be middle class or we would lose our cheap labor. You're talking about the American dream. The American way of life is a separate kettle of fish. I also think it's absurdly reductive to boil it down to cheap labour for cheap food, keeping the Middle Class happy and the Lower Class out (of the Middle Class). Values, however, tell more about a society. America has a set of values that are largely shared by most Americans, but these values become less valued, or valued in different measures by different societies. Look at the Islamic counties stance on women, do you want a majority society telling women to cover up their faces and stop going to school? Then there's the fact that many of these illegal migrants are in fact criminals escaping their own violence, or currently working for criminal organisations back in their home country. They can't background check illegal immigrants so you're running the risk of importing violence every time an illegal crosses your border. 5 hours ago, Tatetopa said: We cannot rise up by beating other people down. The answer isn't to welcome illegal immigrants with open arms, either. America already brings in more legal migrants than any other country on earth. +Link of Hyrule Posted May 28 #1434 Share Posted May 28 (edited) 4 hours ago, Tatetopa said: What exactly do you think most Americans share as far as values go? A bunch that a lot of humans have in common. But if I meant to say "human rights" I would have said "human rights", thank you @Agent0range. But some that Americans may have more than others are a valuing of the First Amendment above others, a presumption of innocence in the courts, the importance of a free press, and a love for the nation of America. Many of those values are held by other nations (though the last one would be swapped out with whichever nation was claiming love). But there are many cultures out there that don't believe in any of those values (except for maybe exclusive love of State or other ideology), you bring enough of those in, and your way of life is screwed. Furthermore, not everyone will love America. And I think I need to clarify a difference between loving America and loving what America does (or the reverse, hating America compared to hating what America does). Someone can love America deeply and complain about what it is doing because they love it so much, so it's not easy to quantify love. Not all illegal immigrants will love America. Some will like it, some will love wherever they came from more. Those cultural values are brought over instead. Sometimes they won't matter, sometimes the values will directly class with current social expectations. When the people who don't love America outnumber (by action if not by number) the ones that do, that's when your blood is poisoned. That is just one aspect to it, of course. As noted, without criminal background checks for those illegal migrants coming through, you are going to get a statistically significant number of terrible human beings coming in who WILL cause hurt and harm to your people. There's another few points I can raise too that aren't addressed yet. But the point is that illegal immigration is not a good thing and should be stopped, and every one that comes in in the meantime is poisoning the blood. If they are an actual refugee then good luck to them, but the vast majority of those don't qualify by your standards (eg, even the ones fleeing wars had to flee through non-violent countries to get to Mexico, and they should have stayed in those countries - they wanted the lifestyle that America has, which is not surprising, but wanting something doesn't mean they get it (as a point of interest my grandparents were in a Latvian refugee camp in the 40s after the war and ticked the box that they wanted to settle in America, yay for me they got Australia instead, else mum and dad would never have met). 4 hours ago, Tatetopa said: We are on the brink of destroying our country because we do not share values. I wouldn't say you are on the "brink" (at least not numerically, if someone ever decides to codify this into law or it becomes culturally appropriate, then it may already be too late). Numerically, it will take a bit of time before you reach critical mass. But that doesn't mean you should wait until it becomes a problem, because by then it'll be too late. Hey, kinda like that Climate Change thing, right Edited May 28 by Link of Hyrule

I did feel it was time for a new name, though. Everyone knows who I am anyway That said, I wouldn't even describe American politics in my top 5 interests. Just because I post a lot on this particular forum about political topics doesn't mean my life outside this forum is one big MAGA Party. I don't drive a pick up (we call them utes) I don't have an Australian (or American) flag on my bedroom wall. I don't have any kind of political merchandise. On my shelves are books of my favourite authors like Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson (I'm currently reading through the Cosmere). Between my books I have LEGO models, representing three more interests - Harry Potter, Star Wars and LEGO itself. Plus a huge Lord of the Rings LEGO on top of the bookshelf. What I am getting at is just because I post a lot about Trump here doesn't mean I am obsessed outside in the real world. You are literally seeing just one aspect of me here, it's a very shallow method of viewing me - the interests mentioned above (The Cosmere, Lego, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings) have all taken more time out of my life than Donald Trump has. But before today I bet you didn't know I spent any time on any of these. I also am aware you probably won't see this post, however if you read this thank you for reading and have a good day For others who read this, maybe you learned a little about me. ~ Link Edited May 28 by Link of Hyrule

You are a big nerd. I'm kidding. I like some of those things you mentioned too. I think what confuse some of us is as to why you defend Trump and believe he should be president again. I don't think people believe your story about your mate changing your mind and correcting lies about Trump. Personally, I think you like to debate and a good debate, and the U.S. political section on UM is the hottest section for this.

Been one my whole life, back when it wasn't cool to be a nerd, lol. 26 minutes ago, Katniss said: I think what confuse some of us is as to why you defend Trump and believe he should be president again. I'm not sure if you did that on purpose, but that's actually two different things. Defending Trump is one thing, believing he should be president again is another. To the first, I do defend Trump a lot, and my argument as to why is that the media misrepresents him a lot, therefore I go out there to set the record straight, so to speak (whether people think that is accurate may be another thing, but that is how I view it). To the second, it's pretty nebulous to suggest I "believe he should be president again". If we go back to the primaries, I actually wanted Nikki Haley to be Republican nominee. Even in the big one, I technically would prefer RFK to be president over Trump. And I'm sure there are many who could do a better job. But this isn't about who can do the best job in America, it's who can do the best job in a 2 (sneaky 3) horse race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden (and RFK). Under those circumstances (which assumes RFK is a dead runner), you are darn right that I'll support Donald Trump, because Joe Biden is, frankly, incompetent. The alternative to supporting Trump is supporting Biden in the 2024 election, and I cannot do that. Between the two of them, my values are far more in line with Trump and the Republicans than Biden and the Democrats, which makes it an easy to decision which to support in 2024. Thus, it's more correct to say that I prefer Trump to Biden in a two-horse race, rather than a blanket "I want Trump to be president again". At the end of the day, I don't vote, my opinion is just an empty voice on the net. This is just a topic of interest of mine. On that note: 26 minutes ago, Katniss said: I don't think people believe your story about your mate changing your mind and correcting lies about Trump. Personally, I think you like to debate and a good debate, and the U.S. political section on UM is the hottest section for this. That is the story, nonetheless. However you are absolutely right that I do enjoy debating. But I don't lie to start a debate or take up positions that I don't hold just to stir things. Everything I discuss is my true beliefs and views on the American political system, and outside of sometimes discussing politics with my partner, and once or twice with a friend of mine who is a far bigger Trump supporter than me - his Facebook feed is filled with pro-Trump, pro-MAGA stuff, but outside of that I don't really think I talk politics at all in real life.
