Egyptian Mummy and Case Set Auction Record

LONDON (Reuters) - A rare Egyptian sarcophagus complete with mummy has been auctioned for a record price, auction house Christie's said on Wednesday.

The 3,000-year-old mummy in its highly decorated case, dating from the late 21st dynasty, was sold for 883,750 pounds ($1.43 million) -- nearly 20 times its pre-sale estimate -- to a private buyer who wishes to remain anonymous.
